  Hello!

Noticed there wasn't an Introduction thread made by anyone yet, so... here we are.

Hi, I'm Seloana. You can call me Sel, or you can call me Res(from my Main nation).

I'm here from The South Pacific(my home region). this is my first time in an RP centric region, so, I'm not quite sure what to expect yet. So far folks have been pretty freindly, so, that's pretty cool. I was brought here by my old pal, Constantine. He talked to me about it, and I was interested, and so I jumped in.

RP Wise, not that I'm settled on it or nothin', but, I'm aiming for my nation to be styled after the American SouthWest, and to take a lot from the Cowboy/Western culture. The Government itself is a pseudo-libertarian government that doesn't maintain much control of the territory(I haven't delved too much into *how much* it actually controls, but, that'll be sorted in good time). I'm also aiming for there to be 1-2 "Warlord" factions, rebel splinters from the main government. You'll be able to interact with any of these groups by your choosing(once I've properly developed the factions), just make sure you notify me if you're interested in the Rebel groups, because I'm probably going to assume the Central Government by default. Tongue

Other than NationStates stuff, I'm a huge Sci-fi fan, especially of Firefly and Star Wars. I'm a PolySci Major at my college, i enjoy playing video games in my freetime(most recently Cities: Skylines, despite it's age), I listen to a lot of Metal, Folk Rock, and Orchestral music, and I ride my bike just about everywhere I can.

So... yea, happy to be here folks, and I'm looking forward to being the Wildest Nation in the West. Big Grin

The Sol Federation: What it is today
Posted by: - 07-26-2016, 01:22 AM - Replies (1)

NOTE: this is a talk about what the Sol Federation is today. The previous thread is about the history. This is a description of what it is today in order to avoid confusion.
The Sol Federation is a nation very different from most others. They are noticeably anti-Selene with polls showing that 85% of the population view Selene negatively meanwhile 10% have a neutral opinion snd 5% have a positive opinion. This anger towards Selene comes from the history of the two countries, and the different ideals they have. The anger has escalated to the point that the Sol Federation has propaganda calling Selene, "The Purple Terror." The Sol Federation has a military focused society where the government encourages that young males serve and fight for the country. While the government budget focuses in military somethings need to be cut. Such as welfare. Welfare is entirely non funded, with the government not paying any penny to it saying that citizens need to achieve their own dreams and start making money for the state. They also said that this would lead to socialism which is often mistaken for communism, the biggest fear of the government. Now on to the government. The government is basically an semi authoritarian democracy, where people elect some officials that have a lot power. The leader that is chosen is elected by a group of corporation CEOs. The current leader is Daniel Turnt however he has considered getting a name change due what he says, "A cancerous vine on the internet that disgraced the name of Daniel." The nation's people are known as the Solteks, where they make up about 90% of the population. Immigrants are not usually welcome due to the strong religious differences and ethnic tensions. That's about it! Thank you for reading. (If there's more I should talk about then just ask me, I would love to further expand my nation on points I may have missed)

  [IC] Mekselia Summit

First Councillor Marco Valerio was pacing in his office, occasionally staring at the screensaver on his laptop but otherwise just pay attention to everything and nothing at the same time. He was nervous but excited, looking forward to the arrival of several leaders from all over the world. Since the collapse of talks in Procellia, there had been a noticeable need for leadership on the international stage, and Sartoria was stepping up to assume that role. He had been initially hesitant, unsure of his ability to lead, but he received strong encouragement from Prince Patrizio and Emperor Justinian from Selene, and he decided that if there were two opinions that he could trust, those were the ones. He stopped pacing to look at the clock on the right side of his office, and saw that some minutes were still left until the first leaders would arrive. He continued pacing, hands on his back and an untouched tea on his desk.

Over in the ground floor of the Palazzo Malzo, everything was already set for the arrival of the leaders, the Old Hall prepared for the state dinner and the Red Room ready for the negotiations. Sartoria made sure to advertise the summit as one where all topics would be on the table, but they were particularly interested in the formation of an international forum for the discussion of diverse issues and an agreement on the need to keep open trade and ensure peaceful relations between all states. With Selene less involved in international affairs -though not less interested in them- and Gracia Marelli holding secret negotiations with Sylon, this was the perfect moment for Sartoria to exert an enlightened leadership in the international system, one based on fairness and equal treatment for all.

He knew that at least six countries would attend, including rising stars like Kauzka and Viestrana, but he was completely ignorant regarding the temperaments of their leaders and what their national interests would be. While he paced, he was coming up with potential scenarios and how he would react to each, from deep skepticism to his intentions to an open willingness to talk. He was well aware that the Prince was barred by tradition from interfering in politics, but he sure hoped he could share the stage with him that afternoon. They had formed a great friendship over the past years, and he valued his advice. Where was he today? Was it in Porto Selenio or Virellia? He only remember that it was in some northern city, inaugurating a mass transit system.

His thoughts were interrupted when someone knocked the door and his secretary appeared:

"I'm sorry to disturb you Mr First Councillor, but the first delegations are arriving."

  Richard Tekzume's Citizenship
Posted by: - 07-22-2016, 05:26 PM - No Replies

It was a stormy day in the city of Roma. There were thousands of people in the city but there was one special person who will be one of the 1,000 people to go to Selene. This person was a 13 year old boy named Richard Tekzume. Tekzume lived in the Sol Federation, a nation that had very rocky relations with the nation of Selene. Thus, the Sol Federation only allows for 1,000 citizens a year to immigrant into Selene. The Sol Federation also has a lot of requirements in order to immigrant such as wealth, religion, race, and etc. As many as 50,000 people apply for citizenship in Selene and many say it is hard just make it halfway. But Tekzeme was one of the lucky ones to have been given citizenship by his great grand father. Tekzume was never rich but his great grand father with the money he saved all his life, bought him citizenship. Now Tekzume was standing in front of the airport that was taking him to Selene. "This is where I say goodbye to my home country," he said. "Thank you great grand father for giving me citizenship." And with that, he soon headed for the airplane that would take him to Selene to meet the Crown Prince.

The History of the Sol Federation
Posted by: - 07-16-2016, 05:48 PM - Replies (6)

The Sol Federation is a nation of people called the Solteks, a group who act very strange. Their origins are unknown but according to their Holy Book of Solicus, they were created by gods. They were destined to conquer other tribes and assert themselves as the dominant people their gods wanted. In order to do this, the Solteks have to either sacrifice a different tribesmen as a sign of success or one of their own as sign of failure. The first tribes of these people were developed around the modern day Sol Federation. They would remain on the coast and be mostly blocked off the rest of the world due to the huge desert, they call, the Yuconian Drylands. The tribes are then unified into the Azkekian Tribe speaking the language of Azkekish. (More will be covered just wanted to leave my nation's tribal history)

President Valen walks down the halls of the Capitol. Awaiting are several thousand government officials sitting in their organized seats, patiently waiting for the President's presentation and speech. President Valen eventually enters the room, several armed soldiers follow him, and as they approach the speech podium, they station themselves to the President's opposite sides. President Valen begins his speech and presentation to the government body.

"Greetings, fellow Senators, Congressmen, and other government officials." he glances across the vast room, filled with thousands of government bodies and personnel. "I am establishing the nation's first Act, since our declaration of Independence and our formal foundation. This Act, is know as the "Party" Act. This Act will organize and foundation of the government's overall system." He pauses briefly. "There will be three main governmental branches. Each branch consists of different leveled departments that will be responsible for the function of certain and specific things within the nation." He pauses again. "The following details will be presented behind me." President Valen moves slightly to the left as he presents the screen's details.

"The 'Executive Division' is under the governmental body of the Presidency. The President is given the power to veto or accept bills of law passed from the lower divisions. He is given the power to declare war, cease fire, and establish a state of emergency, or marshal law. The 'Legislation Division' is made up of the Congress (who are given the power to confirm the actions of the President after a vote), the Senators (who are given the power to confirm the actions passed by the Congress), and the Council (who then confirm the actions of the Senators). Then there is the 'Parliament Division' whom are the bodies of departments related to the function of the government and social standards of the nation's citizens.

These are the follow "Parliament" bodies and departments:

- Department of Defense and Diplomacy
- Department of Social Welfare and National Affairs
- Department of Economic Commence and Transportation
- Department of Education and Healthcare
and
- Department of Foreign Affairs and International Interests.

The entire government body votes for the passing of the Act and the re-organization of the government bodies.

Sasaufe's dispair, the corrupting of Kauzka
Posted by: - 07-12-2016, 11:10 PM - Replies (25)

Sasaufe selected her outfit carefully. One of the three females in the male-dominated council of 10, she was also the leader of the terrorist group known as the Kioko, which was also the name of the ancient tribes of Felinius Paradisum. She scowled as she remembered the horrible name her country had been given, and that that fool Ranxiagrir hadn't stepped up against it. They were too submissive, him and the people on the council that weren't part of her group. But no matter. He was gone now and hopefully dead if her agents had done their job properly. She selected a ceremonial robe, one very similar to the one Ranxiagrir himself wore, but with the sign of her organisation on it, a red cats paw-print with a rising sun behind it. She laughed to herself, if the mission failed the Procellian's would be none the wiser to who Ranxiagrir was, as the fool was so eager to pander to more countries that he hadn't even sent word ahead of his arrival. At the very least he would be detained until the language barrier was passed, which would allow her time to kill off the rest of the council or convert them to her side, and maybe even start the rebellion before he even realized. In the best case scenario they would be barbaric enough to just slaughter him on the spot, but she thought this was wishful thinking.
She left her room and walked out to the balcony which allowed her a view of her city, and them of her. Already a crowd was gathering to hear her speak. 'People' She started 'the time has come, you have been held under the oppression of the foreigner sympathizing Ranxiagrir for too long!' The crowd cheered 'But no more I and the rest of my order are going to push him off his throne and re-instate the old ways, too long have you worshiped in fear of his police, too long have you suffered as our culture was changed at the whim of an outsider, too long has the old ways been suppressed and changed to Ranxiagrir's liking and too long have we lived under the foreign name Felinius Paradisum!' She paused and the crowd cheered in agreement, although some remained silent. 'Now go my people, no my Kioko, and wreck havoc upon Ranxiagrir's kingdom, how the other cities our ways and bring back the old religion, do not live under the name Felinius Paradisum instead our country shall be known as 'Kauzka (meaning reincarnation, an old Nouyarhi word referring to undead or the afterlife.)!' She stepped inside again, listening to the crowd chanting 'long live Sasaufe, the queen of Kauzka!' over and over as they stormed the city. She smiled 'the rebellion has begun' she whispered under her breath.
