  The Selene Communist Pact

This alliance has no leaders just common ideas shared by and for the common people of Selene

The sudden groups of shared ideology have been popping up and none of which completely support and enforce the Communist Agenda, and so this pact will unite all Countries in Selene with a Communist view point to join together. This will allow us to further spread the Communist ideas across Selene by sharing plans in wars with alliance members and support in economic downfalls. Again, there are no leaders but if you want to join PM the RCSK or leave a reply for me to find and I will add your nations flag from NationStates in the picture or any other flag you send. I have made this an OOC because it will make joining and negotiations and plans far easier than IC.

The Drewish Empire has called for all its allies to join in one alliance. This alliance would be both economic and military, as it creates a collective defense system, as well as stimulates free trade between its members. After sending this message to the Empire's allies, Christopher Stachowiak, Imperator of the Empire, eagerly awaits the responses of the other nations.

And last but not least, an opinion!

I'm leaving, thought I might let everyone know since you might have to have another Procon. My reasons I'll tell the GM's and they might choose to tell you but might not. Now I want my nation to be cut out of the regional canon, but my progress to be recorded in the archives. Goodbye.

The Red Mantle (Xialtan State-owned News): Conclusion of the Xialtan Civil War

The Red Mantle
News for the Xialtan people, by the Xialtan people

Conclusion of the Xialtan Civil War

The people of the Far Eastern Magnean coast sigh in relief, as it is announced that the Xialtan Civil War, which has lasted for over 7 years, between the Socialist Authoritarian movement of the Antartes and the regional Capitalist Barons, is finally over, with over 4.7 million casualties. The Antartes managed to successfully overthrow the Barons and exile them on the 26th of October. The next day, the Socialist Autocracy of Xialta was formed, an absolute Monarchy that embraces Socialism. The government is composed by the Queen and head of state Constantina Vasileiou Yakushkina, followed by the minister of Defense Mitsos Cardiopoulou, the minister of Economy and Industry Daria Sclavoniki, the minister Council of Education, Media and Entertainment (C.E.M.E.), the minister of Law and Order Nikos Polycharos and a wide range of bureaucrats and diplomats, which independently do not have all that much influence over any other government branch, that form the Council of Foreign Relations and Trade (C.F.R.T.). Now with the tyrants gone, the new government of Xialta promises to provide free household and healthcare to all Xialtan citizens and an increased income equality, effectively bringing the richest and poorest citizens closer to one another economically. The Xialtan government also has privatized almost every property in the nation, thus transforming every corporation into a small state-owned buisiness, unable to compete with one another, effectively eliminated all complicated monopolies. After she was assigned as ruler of Xialta, Queen Constantina has decided to make a public speech, regarding the Civil War and the future of the nation.
"Venerable people of Xialta, it has been years since we've seen the light rays of peace and justice rain upon this country. The wounds that these barbaric Capitalists have opened wont be closing anytime soon. We'll have to work hard to rebuild all the infrastructure that is now lost and, unfortunately, we wont be able to replace the brave heroes that fell, while fighting for the Antartes and the future of our civilization. I promise to protect the Xialtan citizens from the wrong-doings of its enemies and bring to us all prosperity!"
Although struggling to rebuild the agricultural market, ontop of scorched earth, the Xialtan industry has transformed arms manufacturies into canneries and expects Xialta to have abundant food supplies again in two months from now. That being said, the Xialtan mining industry is booming, which is a sign that there will be future traderoutes between Xialta and other nations in need of various metals. The Xialtan future will undoubtably be bright and full of glory

Trial of Prince Marukus of Fornoire

Charges: Murder, Massacre, Civil Rights Violations, Genocide, Treason, Corruption, Theft, Arson, Damage to Property, Human Rights Violations, Terrorism
Judge: High Judge Nokigenu Regami
Prosecutor: High Prosecutor Prince Mario of Fornoire
Defense Attorney: Lawyer Iginikore Merivena
Trial: Murder of Galadie Aragepuga
List of Evidence:

  • Knife: The murder weapon. Has no fingerprints. Tested for blood, it gave a faint reaction.
  • Glove: Belongs to Tarufoli Koruvusa. He claims he wore it on the day of the crime.
  • Autopsy Report: The victim died at 16:40-17:20 due to excessive blood loss caused by a single stab wound to the chest. May have lived for a few minutes after stabbing.
  • Galadie's Jacket: The jacket the victim wore the day of the murder. Soaked with the victim's blood.
  • Galadie's Biology II Book: The victim's book. Soaked with the victim's blood.
  • Galadie's Phone: The victim's phone. Last call was made 16:48 to Modeluxe Aurumile. Has the victim's blood.

Judge (J): All rise

The people rise

J: Court is now in session for the trial of Prince Marukus of Fornoire. The charge is murder of Galadie Aragepuga. How does the defense plea?

Defense Attorney (DA): Not guilty, Your Honour.

J: The prosecution may begin with its opening statement.

High Prosecutor (HP): It pains me to see my cousin in such a situation...however, he must be tried for his crimes.

HP: As we are aware, Galadie Aragepuga was murdered by the soldier Tarufoli Koruvusa, which was ordered by Prince Marukus of Fornoire. He is being tried at the neighbouring courtroom as we speak, and from what I've heard from Prosecutor Akua Vilope, he has already plead guilty, as an honest man.

Cousin, this simple soldier has more dignity than you. I can't believe you would fall so low.

DA: Objection! This is unjust badgering of the defendant!

J: Objection sustained. The prosecution will refrain from badgering the defendant.

HP: Fine. Let me call my first witness. Will Modeluxe Aurumile take the stand?
-------
HP: Witness. Your name, age and profession, please.

Modeluxe Aurumile (W1): My name? Modeluxe Aurumile. Age? 27. Profession? Unemployed Student at Catherine University of the Sciences

HP: You saw the events transpire the day of the murder. You saw the victim, Galadie Aragepuga, a known socialist in your campus, being skewered to death?

W1: Yes, High Prosecutor.

HP: Please, offer your testimony on what you witnessed. Tarufoli Koruvusa killing the victim, and what transpired after that!

TESTIMONY

W1: It was around 16:45 when the murder happened, I believe.

W1: Me and Galadie were talking a bit earlier, and we finished at 16:43.

W1: Then, suddently, I saw a soldier running towards Galadie in the distance.

W1: I saw him being.....being st-stabbed.....

W1: The soldier saw me as well. He ran towards me, and I ran for my life.

W1: I managed to escape by losing the soldier. I hid in a nearby forest until around 19:00, as I remember my phone losing battery at 18:54.

W1: When I came back to the hallway, the soldier was gone, and the body as well.
W1: I then saw soldiers at campus, putting the body at the center of the campus plaza at around 19:00-19:30, I believe. All the students were astonished, frightened, and sad. They wept for Galadie after the soldiers left at around 20:00.

W1: As I am researching forensic science, I made an autopsy to the best of my ability. The victim died at around 16:40-17:20 by excessive blood loss from a single stab wound to the chest. He might've lived for a few more minutes.

J: You may cross-examine the witness, Mr. Merivena

CROSS-EXAMINATION

DA: Wait a minute, how is your autopsy report even accepted as official evidence?

W1: It's simple, actually. I am one of the best-ranking students in my class, and I am on my last year. I also worked as an intern with the police and simulations in my class in order to get experience.

DA: Then your testimony has a contradiction.

W1: How?

DA: You say that he was stabbed at 16:45, but why would the autopsy report say 16:40?

HP: Objection! This is irrelevant!

W1: No, it is okay anyway. I'll tell him.

W1: Autopsies are not exact, Mr. Merivena. They are just an estimate, pure and simple.

DA: Eh...eh....

HP: Finished, Mr. Merivena?

DA: No. Mr. Aurumile, could the victim move after being stabbed?

W1: I believe he could.

DA: Did you see him move?
W1: No, never. I ran for my life.

DA: Did he call you in his last moments?

W1: No. If he did, I didn't notice. I put my phone on silence in the forest, and only checked it to see the time.

DA: Didn't you think you could check the notifications?

W1: No. My only objective was to save battery as long as I could. Besides, my phone's password settings makes it impossible to show notifications without inserting the password to open the phone.

DA: How can you even back up this statement?

HP: May I talk, Your Honor?

J: Yes, you may.

HP: This phone keeps a record of when the password was changed for security, and these logs cannot be deleted. The password was changed 3 months before the murder. This model, For-7X, from the company of Forcell, came with this special feature in case of fraud.

DA: Witness, what can you describe about the soldier's appearance? Was he wearing green gloves?

W1: I did see him wearing gloves.

DA: Do they have blood? When the victim was stabbed?

W1: Yes.

DA: Objection! Your Honor, I would like to present the glove as evidence!

J: What is this all about?

DA: This glove. It has no blood, yes?

J: I believe not.

DA: Exactly! The witness has just testified to the contrary!

HP: Objection! Your Honor, it is true that the glove had blood. However, it was wiped off.

DA: What?!

HP: Because of time constraints, we had no time to undergo a full analysis, nor we knew of the existance of the blood. However, Tarufoli himself confessed that he wiped the blood off. He couldn't stand seeing it, as according to him, he was overwhelmed with guilt after committing the deed.

DA: But...but! This was not mentioned!

HP: I apologize to the court and to the attorney there for this inconvenience. We have just received this testimony from the recently-concluded trial next door. The prosecution presents the court with Tarufoli's Testimony as evidence!

J: The court accepts this apology, and the evidence.

HP: Stop grasping at straws, Mr. Merivena. This testimony is solid because it is the truth.

DA: No...no more questions, Your Honor.

J: Well then! I believe we have reached a conclusion.

J: It is clear to me now. The defendant is guilty. Not only does this testimony proves this crime, the co-killer has already confessed, and the evidence backing the prosecution's case is even more solid.

J: Allow me to make a closing statement before I give my sentence.

J: Marukus, I think that you have disturbed order in our society. You have caused excessive grief with your regime. Thousands killed, all for a single thing: power.

J: I hereby sentence the defendant, Prince Marukus, as guilty!

J: The defendant shall face 40 years in prison, with no chance of parole. There will be no appeal, due to the strength of the prosecution's case.

J: That is all. Court is adjourned!

Palaz dla Rosé
Suderia

It was an imposing view, but that was not a good thing. Carlo stood still as the soldiers placed what could only be described as barricades on the outer ring of the Palaz dla Rosé, keeping the them in and the general public out. Things were still relatively calm in Suderia, but that was bound to change soon, not least because of how large a city it was and how trade was at the heart of its economic success. A city so interconnected, so full of people from different places and different walks of life was bound to be a melting pot for different things, in this case a disease so lethal that it had within a few days brought down an entire country on the other side of the world, and it threatened to do the same with his country. Hence the barrides, a weak barrier designed to instill in people the confidence that their government was still standing, able to solve the coming onslaught.

He knew better. He knew exactly what was going on, and how there was no way to escape, for most of the people out there. They would die, and then they would rise, an empty shell of their old selves, with the sole innate goal of eating others and turning them to the same condition. How could he believe such a thing? He had refused at first. He had been so stubborn in refusing to believe, and why not? It was such a ridiculous propositon, that the dead would rise and turn the living, that they were fighting a war for which nobody was prepared, against a threat that nobody had ever faced. Yet that Admiral had come a week ago, followed by an armoured lorry, and there he had seen the threat with his own eyes, and there he believed, and there he experienced the panic and the horror of knowing just how doomed they truly were, not only as a realm, not only as a nation, but as a race, as a human race. They were doomed, and these barricades, these so-called protections, they would be useless once the dead outnumbered the living.

"Minister." A Lieutenant Colonel approached him, walking up the steps to the entrance of the Palaz. "The barricades are ready. They should offer some protection from civilians, but you know how the situation will be once the nature of the threat changes."

Carlo nodded. "Yes Colonel, I know exactly how things will be once it becomes obvious we have lost control." He turned, heading to the inside of the Palaz, an waited for the Colonel to walk with him. "Will you be staying with us, Colonel?"

"Sì Minister. I have been assigned to command the detachment in charge of protecting His Grace and the Palaz." He paused for a second, then continued. "No matter the consequences."

Carlo and the Colonel crossed the main hall of the Palaz. The Colonel, always focused on his job, looked right ahead, except when he turned to address the Minister. Carlo, above all a civilian, felt increasingly nervous but, oddly enough, or perhaps quite logically, nostalgic. He looked sideways, trying to admire, to retain in his memory all the artwork, all the paintings, the sculptures and even the patterns on the floor and the chandeliers on the ceiling. He had sudden realisation of just how ephemeral it all was, how fragile the columns that kept society standing. He stopped walking when he reached the painting of Duke Ezzio IV. A simple man, Ezzio had been the Duke of Suderia when it joined Sartoria, and was a leading figure in the effort to balance industrialisation, which he considered fundamental to the progress of society, and nature and traditions, which he considered fundamental to the humanisation of society. Ezzio had been a good man, a wise man. The Palaz dla Rosé had been named precisely because of the rose garden planted by his father, which he had personally tended to while in the throne. Incidentally, the Ezzio Verzon was still blooming outside the Palaz, and the current Duke still tended to it once a week, a tradition that had remained unbroken since the times of Ezzio. What would happen to it now?

"Have you received any news from the north, Colonel?"

The Colonel, an uncomfortable look in his face, took a few seconds before answering, and even then his voice betrayed his usually calm demeanor. "Minister, I am not sure..."

"Please Colonel. I need to know."

"Very well." The Colonel sighed. "Porto Selenio and Porto Verale are close to collapsing. The informal safe zones are still standing, but for all intents and purposes, the people living within them are mostly certainly infected, or will soon be. The checkpoints were never that effective to begin with, and they did not fully surround their zones, so there are large unguarded areas through which the alzati could enter. Our best case scenario is that order will be maintained for the next 24 hours, but after that the military has orders to withdraw."

An somber silence, broken only by the sounds of soldiers closeby finsihin working on the barricades.

"Messelia is heavily guarded, and there the military has deployed teams to counter the threat in the less...affluent areas. They have had some success, but there was, well, an incident near the Square. It was contained, and there has been no press on it, but then they realised that the infection was already spread beyond the areas where the teams were operating. I have been told that most cities in the east coast will go dark within the next few hours, once the military starts retreating."

"Have you briefed the Duke on this?"

"His Grace received a more thorough briefing directly from the Royal Strategic Command. He knows more about the situation and either of us." He dropped his voice. "I have no doubt that there will be an evacuation soon. The Duke is bound to have a secure location he can go to."

"What about us? What about the people outside?"

The Colonel gave him a sad look. "Can a body survive without a leg?"
