  Smaller nations
Posted by: - 12-18-2016, 06:32 PM - Replies (16)

I held an idea in my mind for quite a while, which I thought could be executed efficiently in practice and could bring even more life to Media Cavea. In the real world, big nations with large industry and influence are not the only inhabitants of our globe, inbetween them exist a lot of smaller nations. Since people are very unlikely to choose to be a small nation, that isn't really significant to the world (except for when it comes down to diplomacy, culture, etc.), I thought it would be a good idea to let people who have already enstablished their nation on Artemia to have two or three extra smaller nations to work with.
It may seem like a chaotic plan at first and I do understand that it could cause potential difficulties and a lot of stress when updating the map, but you have to sit back and think of the possibilities. By roleplaying as other nations, people have a chance to get into the mindset of a different population and explore different ideologies. It will also allow them to approach other nations that they otherwise would've not been able to interact with, through their main nation, maybe due to the distance between them making them oblivious to one another or maybe just because of disinterest or any other possible explanation.
In the following spoiler, I will talk about the Xialtan incident with the territory of Ochyro.

ShowSpoiler
If you've been reading the Red Mantle, you probably would've noticed the articles about the small territory that was annexed by Xialta. As it turns out, this incident is not canon anymore, since a conversation with Justinian Kalominos revealed that there is no nation that occupies that piece of land to begin with, therefore there is nothing to conquer.
One way to solve this issue is, in my opinion, to make it go hand-in-hand with the idea I proposed. Basically, I was thinking that Ochyro could be a big piece of land belonging to another, smaller, nation (Let's call it Argyronia) that Xialta annexed, in order to stop the mayhem that was occuring within it, the kind of mayhem that lead to the terrorist attack in Molyvdokastro (hehe... "lead"... "molyvdos"... bad joke...). This would lead to a very angry little nation, which would state loudly its issues with the imperialistic acts of its larger neighbor, which would start some intriguing diplomatic discussions about the ethicality of the annexation.
In case this idea will never be put into action, I still hope there is a way to make the annexation canon, if possible...

  Kumarian Citizens
Posted by: - 12-14-2016, 12:01 AM - No Replies

In light of recent events the Republic of the Communist States of Kumari have receive backlash from neighboring countries that Kumarian citizens lack basic human rights. In response the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has decided the best course of action is to release a day to day. It is impossible to generalize the entire population so they are showing what is expected of each citizen and various laws that effect daily lives.

LABOR

Work is mandatory and required as there is work for all and everyone must pull there weight for the glory of the nation. Upon graduation or immigration all citizens report to the nearest district building to find the labor offices, and immigrants will require a occupational transfer exam that graduates should already have. Citizens may take the occupational transfer exam every 5 years to receive a promotion, different pay rate (mere 10s in monetary units separate the pay rates) or a new job entirely. Children are also an important part of the workforce children are allow to work as early as 8 years old and isn't not required, but encouraged with tax breaks and extra rations. Children are not required to take the occupational transfer exam as all child level jobs (8-15 years old) are the same pay rate. All unemployed are taken to the labor offices the unemployed are spotted as ID numbers are required to do almost anything in the nation which reports your labor class. If unemployed have been takin in three times they are sent to a prison labor camp until they pull their weight.

Housing and Life

In order to have suitable living quarters your labor and pay rate are taken to the Housing and development office in the district building. A majority of a citizens tax is contributed to the ministry's department although there are many different jobs a lot of the cities have a standard of tenants that evens out everyone. Meanwhile in rural areas the different jobs have almost entirely different dwellings.
The RSCK have little interest in the personal lives of citizens and only concern is equal rights and a fair economy. Though guns are outlawed for the general public it is to protect equal rights and keep the economy strong many laws like this are enacted to help keep the fundamental rights protected. Many freedoms are also given up to the glory of nation as house searches are a normal event and every phone is tapped. Now all money that isn't taxed citizens are free to spend on unnecessary goods and extra food that their food rations didn't cover. Most citizens can afford electricity and basics and with an efficient public transportation system makes cars an unwise purchase. Every child attends school until 8 where they can chose work study which cuts school hours for their job until they reach 14 when they take the occupational transfer exam which could decide to extend their education.

Student

If the occupational transfer exam extends your education you will be sent to Kumari University a small town that is primarily a campus the exam that extended your education will decide your training. Students live a more restricted life the dorms are all shared  with up to 10 people per room. There is little to no free time and while this is considered a job there is no issued wages as food rations are handed out and free electricity is the standard. Students will normally receive a higher pay rate and extra rations depending on there education level. Their only requirement is to pass training. Any students who fail training are removed from the University and are fined from their new jobs wages until their training is paid off. Foreign students are also allowed to study at the university they differ by paying tuition and do not receive food rations but instead pay, however the tuition pays for a dorm room.

INTERNMENT CAMPS

Propaganda is scattered across the country showing the dangers of fascism. Citizens accused of being a fascist or are from a fascist country going back two generations are sent to temporary camps that conduct trails. Citizens are forced out of their home but are usually compliant as trails last 2 weeks and will be sent home without fear of a second trail. If found guilty the accused are sent back to their country of origin or imprisoned for life and forced to give up more fascist for the glory of communism.

Gregor Chekiev the Secretary to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will answer any further questions and will release more information in the future.

K-54 Pangborn Jet Fighter
Recently, the Drewish Empire's latest and most expensive research project has come to fruition. The K-54 Pangborn fighter has been cleared for service in the Empire. With advanced maneuvering, stealth, and accuracy capabilities, the Pangborn has turned a lot of heads on the global scale. The fighter is most renown for its impressive maneuvering abilities. While other nations posses stealthier, more durable, or more heavily armed fighters, very few can match the Pangborn in sheer agility and speed. Following its expensive design phase, mass production has begun on the Pangborn. The plane will be the primary fighter of the Drewish armed forces. The government has also agreed to sell the Pangborn to any ally of the Empire, and any member of the Nationalist Alliance.

It seems the political stage has been rocked by the advent of a new nation. The Dominion of Gergoire, or the Dominion as it is referred to by its human resources of citizens, has carved out their own way in the world through blood. Centered in the city of Rathvik, the Dark Prince of Gergoire, Prince Baelth, has opened discussions with the rest of the world. The atmosphere of the executive chamber is bleak and depressing, as he sits in a black leather chair, a long snake-like beast around his shoulders, a doomwyrm according to his advisors whispering facts into the ambassador's ears. He gestures for them to sit, "I speak for Gergoire. State your business."

Atar City, Atariia

Olivier's plane was nearly about to touch down as the young Emperor noticed he had not yet put his tie back on. He had taken it off after boarding the plane so as to not have something tight around his throat, he had a fear of flying and quite frankly having something tight around his throat made it hard to swallow. For most of the flight he had been in briefings about protocol with the Atariians and other various nuances about the trip. Some might be bored or extremely nervous if they were in his shoes, this being only his second state visit abroad as Emperor and all. For Olivier however this was absolutely magnificent, he was getting to see a land he had never been to before and the people, the culture and well for him this was some degree of paradise. This fascination that he had on this visit was not limited to Atariia however, it was to all the nations of the world. His youthful exuberance and this outlook of excitement had to be reigned in according to some of the more senior members of the government but Olivier was Emperor and for him he was going to put this excitement on full display so that the world could see that Noveaux was excited about reaching out beyond the traditionally close group of allies it had for for the better part of a century. Atariia was a nation new to the world stage by most standards, having emerged from their civil war back in 1974. While Noveaux had been on cordial terms with the preceding government, those ties had been rather quickly severed when said government began a serious campaign to eliminate opposition. When the Atarrian people rose up against this oppression the Novean government in a rather highly criticized move not only funded the rebels but also had military advisers sent to aid them. In hindsight this broke with all kinds of protocol in Noveaux and the international community but it had paid dividends as when the war was over and the reconstruction began Noveaux's support had brought about a new friend and in time an ally.

At present Atariia was one of two nations not yet in the Tripartie Alliance that were allied with Noveaux. The other was Noveaux's southern neighbor and long time friend, Neuvu. While Neuvu had been at the negotiating table for nearly half the last decade it had not been apart of the Tripartie's predecessor, the Ever Closer Pact between Noveaux, Sekia and Eraphalia. This difference meant that Neuvu was going to accede to the Prosperity Accords within a couple weeks of the foundation while Atariia was going to have to wait for nearly a month or so. The specific time table of the accession was something on the agenda and one reason that Olivier was visiting. He also was here to get a feel for the distant ally of Noveaux, a nation led by a President who had been a friend of the former Empress and indeed Noveaux itself.

Upon landing Olivier donned his tie which was the same shade of faded blue that was on the Novean flag that adorned the outside of the plane. He wore a black fitted suit that accentuated his fit physique and his hair was styled though was a bit tussled from his sleep. He approached the doorway and with a genuine smile proceeded down the stairs and over to the Atariians who were awaiting his arrival. Much to Olivier's delight only a small security detail was present at the airport, he didn't enjoy being engulfed by security and only traveled with a light detail as well, though the National Security Bureau would certainly say all were the equivalent of three other people.

General Karl Sieg was the man who Olivier would be meeting first and out of respect he saluted the General before shaking his hand. "Thank you for meeting us here General." Olivier said with a smile and bit of a bounce in his step as he proceeded on from the greetings and into the car that took him to the National Senate building which was large and monolithic in detail. The city was beautiful and the port magnificent, Olivier made a mental note that he'd need to come back to Atariia during the warmer months to go relax at an ocean side retreat somewhere. The drive to the National Senate was pleasant enough, Olivier spent the time looking out the window and only half paying attention to his assistant's briefing on the details of the meeting. He was far more curious about the country and its people than the meeting but being Sovereign meant he had to put the national interests ahead of his own.

Exiting the car he turned back to where a few reporters were taking a moment to wave and flash his devilishly handsome smile their way just to make someone somewhere swoon. "Your Majesty what have you thought about Atar?" Came a question being shouted by one of the reporters, he felt the glare of his assistant on his back as he broke protocol and proceeded over to where the reporters were. They looked stun that a ruler, a monarch nonetheless had actually broken with protocol and opted to answer a question personally. "It's absolutely beautiful here, I wish I had more time to look around and see the city's niches but alas I have a meeting to attend to that has the fate of my nation and yours becoming intertwined" Olivier said before breaking off as a few more questions were asked. From there he now proceeded into the building and to the room where the Atariian President was waiting. He entered the finely decorated room with a smug expression he had given his assistant before turning into one of respect as he approached the President. "Thank you for having us today." He said greeting him and shaking his hand.

The National Atariian Press
A Cumulative Source for News in Atariia

Issue #1
December 9, 2016

National Atariian Press Established!

With so many sources for news and media outlets, the federal government of Atariia has voted to grant permission to the staff of the National Atariian Press to move forward with their publications. Why is this important? Well, each staff member is carefully hand-picked by the current Editor-in-Chief, Steven Baum, and his trusted lead staff members, who also help manage the National Atariian Press to keep things moving along smoothly. These staff members are all either current of former employees for other news publications in the nation and contribute their best stories and viewpoints of issues to culminate in a national summary of media. This furthers the notification of citizens of recent events and helps boost all other, more local news outlets. Without them, the NAP would be nothing.

President Talks of Upcoming Senate Election

In an address made earlier this week, President Atarii Segasis spoke of the upcoming election year, when 45 seats on the National Senate will be decided. This, of course, will be held on December 19-21, 2017 and could show potential change in the makeup of the Senate. In regards to the election, President Segasis said that "this process is of utmost importance. It is the truest and most sincere way to preserve democracy not only here, but abroad. The day we give up our elections is the day that democracy will lose a champion."

This election stands to see the potential change of 45 Senators, 20 of which are members of die Konservativen, 8 who are from die Fortschritte, 7 from das Ultrarecht, 5 from die Zentristen, and 5 from der AKP, who have made some interesting and boisterous claims the past 8 years, especially in terms of Atariia's ever-complex foreign policy. This, as well as the entire election, will likely be heavily effected by the creation of the Tripartie Alliance Organization, of which Noveaux, Sekia, Eraphalia, and Neuvu are members. This is, of course, due to Atariia being a Provisional Member until January of 2017,  when they will become Full Members.

  Succession Confusion in the Empire!

In a Shocking Turn of Events, Grand Imperator Christopher Stachowiak has Died of a Heart Attack!
This morning, the Grand Imperator of the Drewish Empire died of a heart attack. After ruling the Empire for more than 40 years, many now wonder who will lead the Drewish people. Three potential candidates have risen from the Empire's most powerful Houses. Depending on which candidate is chosen, major policy shifts in the nation may occur. In several days, the Council of Lords will convene to elect the newest Imperator. Below, the candidates have been listed.

Sir Arthur Wellman (of the House of Wellman)
Sir Wellman is 49 years old and was born in Kingsport. He is widely considered to be the favorite to rule the Empire. He has served in the Drewish Navy since he was 16 years old, and has become distinguished due to his military expertise. His policies are very similar to that of the previous Imperator. Wellman stresses the importance of the NA, and favors allocating slightly less money towards the military, and instead focusing on bolstering infrastructure. He also believes that the Empire should maintain peaceful relations with the democracies of the world.

Sir Genelius Usla (of the House of Uslariskov)
Sir Genelius Usla is 38 years old and was born in the city of Watchtower. Usla is considered a revolutionary mind in his time. While Usla is a highly successful buisiness man, he has never served in political or military office. Usla's stance on many issues are rather unusual. He favors increased freedoms throughout the Empire, and campaigns to increase free speech. Usla also believes in establishing a lasting peace with both communist and democratic nations throughout the world. Finally, he is perhaps most known for his efforts to grant freedom to the Empire's only colony, the Coastland Territory. This colony has recently undergone much turmoil as its residents campaign to be released from the military occupation it is currently ruled by, sometimes resorting to acts of domestic terrorism to do so.

Sir Anton Burish (of the House of Burish)
Sir Anton Burish is 45 years old, and was born in Bastiona. His views are highly nationalistic, and border on fascism. Burish has served as the Minister of Intelligence for the last 15 years, helping to execute many of the Empire's covert activities. This candidate favors increased cooperation with other members of the Nationalist Alliance against both democratic and communist nations, who he has describes as "the imperialist vermin of the world, intent only upon preventing the Empire's quest for glory." Burish favors a crackdown on rebels in the Coastland Province, and supports a large increase in military spending and recruitment. His fiery speeches have gathered much support from hardliners throughout the nation.

  Passing Dreams

"In the name of all that is worthy, with the ideals of our mothers and fathers, to preserve that which is worth preserving, and to ensure the survival and flourishment of all we hold dear, I, Blazhe Filipov, open the 4th Council of the Anesians. Please sit."

The opening phrase, or prayer as some would even call it, was meant to evoke a sense of patriotism, however fleeting, in those that bothered attending the Council's actual meetings. Unfortunately, rarely did anyone bother to come to them, more worried about their own survival as opposed to any sense of law and order. Still, the Militia, led by Chief Ioannidis, followed the laws set out by the Council, and the rest of the town dared not cross the Chief.

Blazhe sat down after the rest of the Council, along with the Chief, took their seats at the makeshift table, and pulled his coat closer to him. "Well, that's my introduction. Who's next?" He looked around the room for the next member of the Council to stand up and speak.
