Selene's Cold War!

I have two questions. Neither are related at first glance, but they are in a deeper sense and they are absolutely crucial to the need of this thread.

1. When did the Cold War between the USA and the USSR start?

2. Why does the Cold War of Selene need a dedicated thread?

1. The Cold War between the USA and the USSR officially started in 1947.

2. The Selene Cold War should be a dedicated thread because it will be a crucial part of Selene's history. It will give nations in the region a chance to be more involved through their political beliefs, and give people who know a lot about the cold war something to use as a reference to better understand alternatives of what a "Cold War" should be. Another reason is to give more minor ideas for a role-playing in the region, like "After the Cold War" or several wars between nations within the cold war or "Political Separation after the Cold War" which are just a few ideas for role-players to get more and more ideas for simulations based off of mine. I actually think we should make this turn in history a major contribution to the region and make it aware to almost everyone so they can be part of Selene's history in motion.
