Region of Selene

Selene's Cold War! - YOUR FIRST MOVE!

It is August 21st, President Travis looks over his capital city Valis as several of his Advisory Cabinet enters the room, with worried faces, a stressing burn irritates him through anxiety corrupts the office's peaceful and calm atmosphere with the Cabinet member's worried faces.

It has already been five hundred years since Sovern's independence and recognition as a nation in Selene, after the famous "Reconstruction" Act, the country has been improved, civil rights reaches excellent levels, political freedom has been allowed and given to the genial citizens, and the economy has reach an all-time high. President Travis has been on office for only a year before another national issue threatens the republic.

"President Travis, there was an incident with several countries in the region conflicting with one and another, and within our reason, the entire region might fall into a Cold War!" states Advisory Cabinet Member Jason Bell Miller as he enters the office with the rest of the membership. "What are we to do with this then?" asks President Travis. "We have to begin an international campaign to allow us to recognize who is on our side." requests another member. "Really, we've been peacefully isolated within the region of five centuries and NOW we're being thrown through the region's expectation?" President Travis sarcastically snickers. "Sir, this is more real than you think!" yells one other member from the back of the room. "Fine then, what do we do?" desperately asks President Travis.

Hours have passed and several ideas were made and discontinued. The President and his Advisory Cabinet finally made an idea that was approved by everyone's standards. "So it is then, we will laugh an international campaign to unify the region under an organized conference to discuss international issues and solve them all together, and stop the means of war." states President Travis. "..And if sides are being chosen, there is no blocking the path to a cold war, because there will be at least one group of countries who won't like us.." Continues a member of the Cabinet. "We have no choice, we can't wait for other nations to choose our fate but our own!" proclaims President Travis.

Thus beginning the Cold War.

Within this thread, there is the main storyline. On August 21st, a terrorist attack from a pro-comminust party aginst a capitalist nation sparks a "WHO DID IT" reaction and begins rivary and aggression between countries throughout Selene. Arms Races, Space Races, and Economic Rivaries sparks the beginning of Selene's Cold War!

So that the thread is organized, I have made up some basic and simple gaming techniques.


- A Nation can design how ever they wish to display their post or reply, but it is highly recommended that all the specific action are listed in bullets so everyone else understands what you pretty much did.

- Nation can create their own aligned team or group of countries, hold a conference, PM other contributing nations, create their own scenarios based on the storyline, and create their own stance in the cold war. I only ask to keep things in the same timeline (the present) so others and myself don't get confused.

Here is an example of some actions (in bullet form) so you understand the basics of the gameplay.

- President Travis holds a conference with regional-wide nations across the world to discuss the complications and features of the Cold War.

- President Travis declares the Sovern Republic to be in a Pro-Capitalist nation in the Selene Cold War. President Travis orders the investment in Arms Manufacturing, the beginning of the Selene Space Race, and provide influence to other Pro-Capitalist nations.

- As of now, the Selene Cold War begins.

I have two questions. Neither are related at first glance, but they are in a deeper sense and they are absolutely crucial to the need of this thread.

1. When did the Cold War between the USA and the USSR start?

2. Why does the Cold War of Selene need a dedicated thread?

Within in time, President Travis grows suspicion of incoming rivalries. President Travis assembles world leaders in Selene to the "Pro-Selene" International Conference.

Dude we already have a cold war. It's between pro selene and anti selene nations. And not only that, a cold war should not have its own thread. It would just be a huge mess of things for new nations having to read through all of one thread. It should rather, have multiple different threads about different things, such as a space race or a cuban missile crisis. Overall this is just going be one huge mess of a thread. At least in my opinion.

I think this could serve a purpose as a general discussion thread, talk about reasonable limitations to national statistics and what not.
