Well guess is my turn. My nation is Brothers of the Sword, inspired in the Military Order of the Livonian Knights created at the beginning of XIII century. This is not my only nation, because i play NS for long in the least since 2003 with interruptions. But i kinda decided to control all the nations i once had but my main nation is called Simeonia, maybe you have heard the name or not, it does not matter really.
As for Rp's this will be a first time. Also you can call me John it's my first name or João, in portuguese but i doubt anyone here speaks my language, so let it be John.

  Prime Minister´s Questions [31.05.17]
Posted by: - 05-31-2017, 10:35 AM - Replies (5)

"Questions to the Prime Minister!"

This was the second PMQ for Prime Minister Vangelis Dimitrious, the former Interior Minister who had been thrust into a position of power following the scandal that had brought down the previous United government. They were from the same party, but Vangelis was less of a politician, more of a public administrator. He was obviously good at delving into the details of public policy, helping decide the best options for running the government, making sure that the wheels kept turning.

Still, if news outlets were to be trusted, he was not so skilled as a politician, as a tactical operator who knew how to respond to attacks, how to tackle trick questions, how to not only set policy, but also make sure the environment was right to implement it, and survive to keep fighting for it. Then again, many had defended the Prime Minister. His average approval rating, following his first PMQ, remained high at 62%, which gave him plenty of wiggle room.

"Mr Dimitrious has shown himself to be an open book, honest about his policy priorities, even if they fall into the traps set by the Opposition. Yet, in the aftermath of the largest political scandal in recent years, that may be just what the electorate needs to see their confidence in public officials restored."

She had read that from The Byzantium Herald, a well regarded newspaper, just days ago. It had been colder than many had hoped for, but reasonably balanced. This second PMQ was widely expected as an opportunity to discard Vangelis as "all policy and no politics", or for him to prove his skill as a tactician.

"Aristides Kouvelas"

A Traditionalist, Kouvelas was one of the moderate ones, often voting across party lines in the less prominent bills. He rose, then spoke.

"May the Prime Minister list his engagements for the day?"

  Prime Minister's Questions [24.05.17]
Posted by: - 05-24-2017, 03:59 PM - Replies (19)

"Questions to the Prime Minister!"

The one who spoke was Anna Polydoras, who had served for the past seven years as Speaker of the House of Commons. Formerly a Member of the Ekklesia with Selenids United, she was now officially neutral in political matters, her only interest being to maintain the House and safeguard its institutional dignity. It had been difficult at first, to remain publicly neutral and abide by the countless traditions of the House, but she was used to it by now, and had even started some traditions of her own.

Her predecessors had always opened the session with more elaborate monologues and procedures; she had opted for the simpler sentence with which she had opened this very session. Its purpose was to question the Prime Minister, so what better way to get things started? This had been surprisingly well accepted. Apparently her colleagues were not fond of the longer times caused by the Speakers' introductory words.

In contrast, the Prime Minister was fairly new. Having been invited to form a government on Monday, this was to be his first ever PMQ, though he was no stranger to the process. He had been a reasonably popular Interior Minister, before being thrust into the spotlight due to a scandal that he cost dearly to the Prime Minister and those close to his inner circle. Vangelis Dimitriou had been far removed from the inner circle, but that became an advantage when the Prime Minister resigned, and the time came to elect a new party leader. Dimitriou suddenly became a compromise option, and was convinced to run after no other candidate could muster a majority.

Dimitriou won a comfortable majority in the Parliamentary Party, and had met with the Emperor on Monday. Within a single weekend, Selene had a new Prime Minister.

Still, this was of little significance to Anna, whose job remained the same. She gestured to a blonde woman to her right, on the government backbenches, and invited her to ask the first question of the day.

"Alexia Lascari."

Welcome to the Ekklesia!

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Ekklesia. This institution, while often found at the centre of political controversy, is also the cornerstone of our democratic process, and the venue where both citizens and their duly elected and selected representatives gather to debate bills and discuss a variety of issues of public interest, to improve the lives of everyone in Selene.

The Ekklesia was first convened in 1432 by decree of Emperor Patricius VIII as a gathering of commoners and merchants, his way of balancing his precarious standing with the military. As described by renowned historian Nerisus Pileus in his masterful work, On the Founding, Independence and Growth of Selene, the country had been ripped apart by the exodus of famed military leader Kalos and his numerous followers, and Patricius VIII received nearly the entire blame for this. In his desperate attempts to remain on the throne, he involved the people in the governance of the country, to create an alternative base of support to counter the power of the military.

While he may not have had democratic inclinations, or the foresight to guess the role that democracy would play in future history, Patricius VIII had just established one of the most enduring institutions in the world, a bicameral legislature that gathered the peasants and merchants of Selene in a single venue, to discuss issues of importance and provide support for the government, when its actions were truly in the best interests of the people.

Today, though the world is much different from the one that saw the dawn of our democracy, our mission remains unchanged. We are elected or selected with the mission of representing the people and working solely to further their best interests, creating the circumstances so that Selene as a whole may continue to thrive and progress, and bringing to public attention those issues that should be address in such a way, so that the citizenry is informed and engaged in the democratic process.

As you browse through this informational site, please know that, on behalf of this Office, and definitely on behalf of the House of Commons and the House of Merchants, we remain ever your humble servants, and gladly continue to work to further your goals, and those of our fellow citizens.

Anna Polydoras
Speaker of the House of Commons

  Akarus Day Celebrations 2017
Posted by: - 05-13-2017, 03:06 PM - Replies (2)

Akarus Day is the national day of Akarus, taking place on May 16th of each year. The day takes place on the anniversary of the Battle of Meddeo in 914, which is commonly held as the day of the unification of Akarus.

According to popular legend in the Battle of Meddeo the outnumbere forces of the future King Frethirik I (commonly modernized to "Frederick") battled his tyrannical father. During the battle Frederick dueled his father and slew in him in battle. In the aftermath of the battle many of the surviving petty kingdoms of Akarus pledged their fealty to Frederick, whom would be crowned as the first King of Akarus. Though its historical accuracy questionable the legend remains an integral part of Akarusian culture.

Among the highlights of the day of festivities is the royal celebration in Andropen. Its most famous event is a theatrical event of the Battle of Meddeo and its fateful duel, as well as Frederick's subsuquent coronation. The role of Frederick I is traditionally portrayed by a member of the royal family (themselves direct descendants of Frederick), often the heir to the throne. The "vows" of its coronation's scene have come to be seen by the nation as a vow to be a fair and just ruler should they ever ascend to the throne.

During the evening a royal banquet is held, lead by the reigning monarch. In addition to its Akarusian guests, diplomats and national leaders from around the world are invited to attend the event.

  Star Wars: A New Enemy
Posted by: - 05-08-2017, 04:27 PM - No Replies

Just two years after the fall of the Galactic Empire, The New Republic is faced with a new enemy. Darth Malum, the replacement for Starkiller after he became a Jedi, had finally broken off from Vader, and had created his own intergalactic order, The Horde of Sithis. just two weeks before the rebels assaulted and destroyed the second Death Star, Malum betrayed Vader, taking troops, and a good portion of the Imperial Fleet. As there were less defenses on the Death Star, it was destroyed, and the Galactic Empire came to a end. But just two years later, a new enemy had arisen. What Malum had stolen from the Empire, had become an army, a Horde.

Now, The Horde of Sithis is under the control of Darth Malum. The Horde controls the planet of Correlia, and it's influence grows as the days go on. Malum is aboard the largest and most heavily armed Star Destroyer in the Horde's fleet, the Deceit. Malum plots to take over and invade Tattooine. The Horde Fleet, Carrying Swarm Troopers, War Droids, and FA Fighters, is now on its way to Tattooine. It is up to the Rebel Alliance and whatever is left of the Jedi Order, to face this new evil, this new enemy.
