Tensions have been rising in Aethelia due to the simultaneous finale releases of Carrie Topper, a popular novel, and Game of Chairs, a popular TV show, with fans of each growing increasingly energetic, and potentially dangerous if any of them think to go beyond waving fake wands and swords at each other.

The issue has risen all the way up to Aethelia's parliament, who must finally decide which is better.
The New Democratic Party is split, with some praising the strong female lead of Carrie Topper, and some who find the dragons in Game of Chairs to be better.
The Path to the Future Party is abstaining. They were last heard grumbling that Pyrefly should never have been cancelled.
The Peace and Love Party is also abstaining, claiming that they're getting tired of hearing spoilers about who dies at the end.
The Freedom Party supports Carrie Topper, as they believe that the Magistrate of Magic is a good example of why government doesn't work, while the Iron Chair in Game of Chairs promotes central government.
The Nature's Way Party supports Carrie Topper, due to Game of chairs having anti-scientific views on how the seasons work.
Opposing the Freedom Party, the Aethelia First Party supports Game of Chairs, and has proposed to refer to The Six Cities as the The North, The Reach, The Riverlands, etc.
The Ultor Corporation supports Game of Chairs, finding the Copper Bank to be particularly inspiring.
The Republican Party managed to briefly unite both sides by suggesting that both be banned for inappropriate content.
The Selene Cultists are split, and busy writing terrible fanfiction for both Carrie Topper and Game of Chairs.
The Adam is the Best Party was met with loud booing before voicing an opinion for being the only one to think Trilight was actually good.

With a split vote being likely, Leader JEM is not eager about breaking a potential tie, having Ravenpuff accessories from Carrie Topper, and a large poster of Radly Bathareon from Game of Chairs.

Some secretly hope that the whole issue will just pass with time, as every side is expected to unite against a poorly written prequel coming up for the formerly popular Star Violent Conflicts movies.

As Chancellor Klaus von Schost's term comes to an end, parties that call for abolishing the Archbishopric and establishing either a Republic or a Duchy have been becoming more popular. The Red and White Party, or Déi Rout a Wäiss Partei (Mondtburgish) stands for stripping the Archbishop of his political power and establishing "The Grand Duchy of Mondtburg" with Ludwig von Mondtburg (the incumbent Lord Mayor of Mondtburg City) as the current pretender to the Mondtburger throne. The Democratic Social Party, or Der Demokratescher Sozial Partei (Mondtburgish) stands for completely abolishing all nobility and stripping the Archbishop of his power and setting up "The Federal Republic of Mondtburg". Whilst the current poll shows the Sovereign Party, or Souveräner Partei (Mondtburgish) which is the current opposition the Occidental Party, or Kaum Partei (mondtburgish) which is the current Chancellor's Party, the two abolishonist parties are gaining traction after Archbishop Maximilian III's new reactionary policies sparked outcries across the nation.

The Transitional Government is steady at work and has given projections of having elections in Kumari as soon as three months from now, and has released flyers (shown below) to go to your nearest administration building to apply to vote this will be as easy as showing two forms of ID and you meet the age requirement of 20 years old. The administration departments (Labor, Defense, etc.) are currently being reopened today with many party members taking over as new department administrators as well as the formation of the department of elections.

These elections in the coming months will be for small positions of government such as Local Administrators (mayors of cities and towns), State Administrators (governor of a state / providence), and for seats in the people's legislature. The Democratic Socialist Party will be watching over these elections carefully to ensure smooth transition into a democratic Kumari starting with the elections of Local Administrators then State Administrators. These Local Administrators oversee the local departments of the city and also reports to the State Administrator who oversees all local administrators, state level departments, and enforces all federal laws in their state.

To prepare for the elections the transitional government has made a list of requirements for local administrator: Must be at least 30 years old with 5 years of department service at any level, must have 2 years of college experience, and live in the town they wish to represent. The Occupational exam has also been brought down to it's original design of being a form of altitude test to find the best suitable career choice for the DoL to find you suitable jobs as well as decide whether or not further education should be given to a citizen. This new form of the exam will now also pick a candidate in the town to be the local administrator and the a candidate for the state administrator this person is not chosen but announced and encouraged to run, it is not definite they will win but insures that someone will run in an election. The Occupational exam will not pick candidates for the people's legislature to show purely peoples opinion for who they feel should represent them or for the Executive Administrator (President) whose elections are to be announced.

Political Crisis in Noveaux Looms on Horizon


Following the death of the Empress Elysia a traditional search of her workspace was conducted under the supervision of the Imperial Steward, Roxas Taben along with the Minister of Imperial Affairs Jessaris. The search yielded several signed and dated Sovereign Orders that had yet to be published. Dated on the 2nd of Martide were three Orders that will have far reaching consequences in the body politic in Noveaux. The documents had been authenticated by several individuals at the Ministry of Imperial Affairs along with them bearing the personal signature and seal of the Empress Elysia. As such, having been dated and affirmed prior to her death it means that they carry the full legal weight of Sovereign Orders and are considered legal instruments of the Executive Imperial Branch. The three that have been made public are below. 

Sovereign Orders #'s 0023-0025
#0023 - Reforms the Sovereign Election process and formally bars all but a newly created class of Magistrates known as "Electors" who will be selected by the independent watchdog council known for its impartiality. There will be 14 electors per realm and then a Arch-Elector position that will be appointed by each realm's leader. In total there will be 182 Electors and 13 Arch-Electors, for a grand total of 195

#0024 - Approves the plan to build a new city on an artificial island in the middle of Lake Velaan. The city will become the permanent capital of Noveaux and shall be named "Sovellia"

#0025 - Removes the Novean Faith from its position as the State Religion thus making Noveaux's Government officially secular, though it has already been in practice since 1867 when the Novean Faith lost its ability to launch Inquisitions against civilian elected positions.

Order number 0023 reforms the process by which a Novean Emperor or Empress is elected. This drastically alters the Foundation Charter which outlines that there are nearly 900 individuals who are given their electoral status through station, rank or free elections to the Imperistarium or appointment in the Clergy. The reform brings the appointees down to a measly 13 while the remaining 182 are appointed via a non-partisan non-governmental watchdog electoral council. No doubt that legal minds throughout Noveaux and likely Artemia will be scrutinizing the legality of this change as it directly amends the Foundation Charter without going through the Legislature or Superior Court. Already some on the far right and the far left are calling for an injunction by the Superior Court while some in the more moderate wings are questioning the legitimacy of the order considering it's author is now deceased. A ruling of legality will come in the next couple of days of the order by the Superior Court, which will determine if the old process prior to the order or the process set out in the order will be what picks Elysia's successor. 

The next order, 0024, which dictates the building of a new city on an artificial island in the middle of Lake Velaan is interesting to say the least. This city was to be designated and enshrined as the new permanent capital of Noveaux rather than Emperors or Empresses simply moving the capital to the realm they hailed from. This city was to be named Soter. While on the surface such a decision might seem less politically motivated that would be a wrong analysis. By creating Sovellia, Noveaux would commit to centralization which poses a political risk to the various realms that have maintained devolved powers since unification in 1788. This order has received less attention than the former and has yet to be officially challenged.

Sovereign Order 0025 which formally removes the Novean Faith from being the State Religion and thus making Noveaux a Secular State at this point is but a formality. In the late 1860s when religious freedom became enshrined in an amendment to the Foundation Charter. The Religious Right will likely launch an official legal challenge to this order in the next few days but with the Faith believing that open mindedness is a way to become enlightened it would be difficult to get public support to oppose this. 

At present Noveaux is currently in the middle of what could be called a political storm. The High Channcellor and Empress were killed in the quake and died from wounds they sustained. Former Emperor Olivier Bast is currently acting Regent with the aid of Imperial Steward Taben. Vice-Chacenllor Sigmar von Lohen is due to be sworn in on  the 15th as Chancellor, he will address the nation that evening and likely call for snap elections the following morning at a press conference though the snap elections are speculation at this point. The Sovereign Election to select Elysia's successor will be held off until after her funeral and the ruling of the Superior Court of Noveaux on the legality of the Sovereign Order #0023. All  eyes of the political elite will be upon Noveaux for the coming weeks to see how this unfolds.

Frank Corekt leader of the RHR has disappeared without a trace. More details on the report show that there is no record of him even existing in the Union or the R.C.S.K. We have asked the Union Legislature Representative to comment on this here is what he reports "Greeting Morning with Mayriet, officially the Union National Records Office is currently trying to find records on Frank Corekt to help with police investigation. Unfortuantely it seems like he has been subjected to bad filing error and he's simple disappeared, however that is doubtful and the Union proposes it could possibly be because he may have never existed in the first place. So the Union says he must have never existed and Corekt was never real and the RHR was simply a group to make citizens fear the Union." The Reporter is staring blank faced and turns back to the camera "Well possibly that makes sense to me it was just a big political stunt to stir up trouble within the people we will hopefully get to the bottom of this and investigate the RHR a little deeper. Well report on it here on Mayriet in the evening with me Natalia Walenski and Tomas Hark" The News fades out and "the story will return tomorrow evening after the police reports at 5:00" pops on the screen.

The 5:00 police report shows interesting cases across the Union this is Mayriet evening news. "Tonight is full of scandal and fraud with the government as Dyania and Gerek Corekt and elderly couple from Howdokr have been arrested as moving files in the national records office yesterday revealed that they have been stealing rations and received several tax breaks for having a child. You maybe asking yourself how the couple managed to get away with this they wrote on their census card 37 years ago they had a child this was false. Some how in this was overlooked, and for that they received a tax break and were able to bring in 18 years of extra rations to the dinner table. The couple has been issued a 207,845 Koupon (currecy) fine they were obviously unable to pay so the Arbitrator's court is going to be started tomorrow they could be sentenced up to 45 years in prison." A graphic of jail bars with "Justice" pops on the screen "Justice served what do you think Tomas" "People like this disgust me I can't believe this is going on but then again 18 years of extra rations and tax breaks quite the relief I could use you know" *they laugh light heartedly* "Our next fraud againist the government story is brought to us in Howdokr as well, as Talia Fisyski has also been arrested for fraud and faking her identity as Talia Corekt no one is clear why her name was changed to Corekt when police asked neighbors. Isn't that funny wasn't that the last name of the previous couple Tomas? Coincidence?" "I think not Natalia. As Corekt is a pretty common name... especially for fraud apparently" *they laugh again* "Oh Tomas, Talia's Fraud case however was reported that she pulled the same thing creating a fake child with the same fake last name can you believe it thankfully she was caught early as she was filing for only 5 years like this. She was issued a 106,874 Koupon fine just goes to show that crime doesn't pay" *Tomas interrupts* "It pays the Union pretty well" "So that ends our crime in the Union segment Just goes to show that you better be honest on the census as the Union will eventually catch up to you. Now to continue our story from yesterday the National Records office found the missing file showing that RHR party was a actually a Political slip up in a Speech of Wolfric Swartvec ugh that guy coming back to haunt us. With our own investigation we found that the RHR was only mentioned as violent group that opposed Wolfric and is a hate group towards Fornoire. The group must have been made up as a political stunt and the Union thankfully cleared everything up so we no longer have to worry about a Fornoire hate group walking the streets. So with that Union men and women goodnight from Mayriet."
