Kauzka-Procellia meeting [IC]

Sasaufe saluted the Prime Minister and nodded to his wife. 'Good noon' she said to them 'I've already met you Mr Sul but I haven't met your wife' to his wife she said 'greetings my name is High Councillor Sasaufe, and you are?'

"I'm first lady Gavenia, it is a pleasure to meet you first councilor." The first lady replied in an eloquence that indicated years of practice

"How humbled you must be for his holiness to bring you as his personal guest" Noted the Prime Minister

Dras Ishay interjected, in à polite but firm tone "Comrades today is a day of celebration for socialism. Let us not focus on rank for just these few hours"

In truth the Dras and Prime Minister were very frequently at odds with each other of late. As the head of the Royalist Party nobody could question his loyalty to the King, but that didn't mean they didn't but heads. Like most royalists Prime Minister Sul was extremely conservative, and seemed to be rabidly xenophobic at times.

Combined with the shamelessly liberal and laid back Dras the two government heads did a lot of fighting behind closed doors. But at the end of the day Ishay knew that Sul would never rebel against the chosen ruler of Procellia, because if nothing else it would be political suicide to publicly insult the Demon King or block his agenda.

Sasaufe saw that regardless of what Sul had said when she had arrived, Dras Ishay still had him under control. She looked at Sul 'despite the Dras's humbleness I am deeply grateful to be his guest and have been for the entirety of the trip' she added the last part to assure the Prime Minister that she had been humbled from the beginning.

Idle chatter passed the time as the final preparations for the parade were made, and crowds of civilians began to form along the sidewalks of the road. Finally a clock tower chimed twelve and the Prime Minister stood to give his speech.

"Greetings and welcome comrades to our annual celebration of the socialist revolution. For thousands of years our nation was the victim of the cycle of theocratic wars. Wars that killed millions of innocent people. These wars would last for decades and often result in entire cities being razed. The genocide of minorities, torture, cultural destruction and other atrocities were the result."

He paused looking out over the crowd "These wars were the only knowledge we had of revolution. Even our early forms of democracy inevitably became corrupted by the bourgeoisie and failed to respond to the people without war. Entire ethnic groups and religious have been destroyed by Atheist and Demonist alike, because we had no recourse for change."

The Dras bowed his head, as if ashamed "But thanks to Comrade Marx this cycle was broken. Two hundred and twenty three years ago today his ideology won out in the newly reformed People's Assembly, and took power through election. This peaceful take over lasted over a decade and laid the ground work for our modern empire. His radical democracy, which demanded all adults be required to vote, allowed our first peaceful revolution. Democracy and Socialism were and are the cure for every ailment we have faced ever since. It has allowed power to shift between the throne and the assembly peacefully, without bloodshed. And every five years we again choose our path. Let us bow our heads in mourning for those who died before we finally got things right"

Dras Ishay allowed his tears to flow freely, as he said a silent prayer to the King of demons to protect the souls of the fallen ancestors of his people.

Fifteen minutes passed before the Prime Minister stepped back and the Dras, now done crying, took the stand.

"Comrades, as we reflect on the past we must look forward into the future. Centuries of progress have maxed out our growth, and our economy has stagnated. Even the powerhouse of Urru hasn't seen any growth for a decade now.

"I know that many of you have been opposed to the opening of our borders, and allowing international trade again. And I completely understand these valid concerns. However, we must still do our best to move forward. We need trade to handle our growing population. Trade also provides us with a golden opportunity to share our success with the world, and peacefully convert the world to our socialist order. Let us be the alabaster city on the hill that others aspire to be, and let us finally cast off the shadow of Selene's invasion."

As the Dras took his seat, the parade began. And the centerpiece of the parade were a dozen shiny new nuclear warheads, emblazoned with the flag of Procellia.

Sasaufe sat near the Dras, slightly surprised at the demonstration of the nukes, but glad that she had Procellia as an ally. Although she did not share their pain in the matter, she thought of the cultural collapse and the anarchy that followed to compare to what the parade was about. She sat silently, thinking of her grandparents that she never met.

"Are you OK?" The demon King asked, his brow furrowed in concern. Turning his attention away from the procession of tanks following the nuclear missiles

Sasaufe turned to him 'yeah I'm fine, just thinking about stuff'

"Well this is a time for thinking." He replied "It is heartbreaking to think about the horrors of our past. It took over nine thousand years to finally end our pattern of self genocide."

'Kauzka was tribal until the 1600's, and this was only because a victor had emerged. We had limited technology then, probably around the stage you were in the 1000s so we were behind. After that we were peaceful until 1967 making a lot of advancements. During the anarchy of the cultural collapse however a lot of people died'
