ELECTION CAMPAIGNS BEGINS

Party supporters march in the street

Mirzak- Political forces across the nation gear up for the coming election to renew the 500 seats in the National Congress. Members of congress will be elected to serve for six years in the legislature; many candidates already crisscross the nation to convince voters to cast their ballots for them. Recent opinion polls suggest the Party of Corummese Democrats holds a commanding and unassailable lead in both urban and rural areas. Chancellor Linge Chen enjoys comfortable approval ratings that rise as high as 95%, a feat few democratic leaders can equal anywhere in the world.

The Party's fulfillment of its pledges to enrich the Corummese people, defend the national interest against foreign devils and an iron fisted approach to crime have ensured the PCD remains the sole legitimate vehicle of political expression. Most pundits express the belief that this election will mirror the one held six years ago, in which the Party once again won in a landslide and secured every single seat in congress. The mood of the people certainly points to such an outcome in the coming days.

Of lesser note are the few independent candidates who choose to do politics away from the loving bosom of Party and Leader. The constitution allows it, but such activity should not be seen as legitimate or in the national interest for it is based on narrow personal interests and greed for power. Already one such 'candidate' has been arrested in the Mirzak area for involvement in a child pornography ring, a crime punishable with long imprisonment.

The public is asked to report any suspicious activity at the gatherings and events of so called 'independent' candidates.
