Second Councillor Sciarra condemned the military interventions in Kauzka

Mekselia. Second Councillor Franceso Sciarra condemned today the ongoing war in Kauzka between Fornoire, the Sol Federation, calling it an "blatant violation to state sovereignty" and calling on both sides to withdraw from Kauzka and allow the local population to determine its system of governance.

In his fifteen-minute statement, Councillor Sciarra restated the policy positions long advocated by First Councillor Valerio and emphasised the need to respect the sovereignty of all states without using them as unwitting participants in a proxy war. He condemned Soltek leader Edward Yutan for what he called "the latest in a long line of unacceptable imperialist actions" and expressed regret for the bombing campaign being carried out by Fornoire, stating that "such actions are less than ideal, given the ongoing multilateral negotiations [in Tepetitlan]". The Second Councillor closed his statement with a call for both parties to withdraw from Kauzka so that the people themselves would decide what system of government suited them best without any undue foreign interference.

In the ensuing press conference, Councillor Sciarra conceded that peacekeeping operations were being considered, though he hinted that Sartoria would consult with prominent figures in the Kauzkan anarchist movement before committing any troops and further guaranteed that any possible operations would be intended to force the withdrawal of foreign military forces, rather than to impose any given agenda on Kauzka. If realised, this would be the first foreign deployment of military forces by Sartoria since the Continental War. While the public is not particularly comfortable with the idea of war, experts suggest that most would strongly support the idea of a peacekeeping operations. In the Senate, influential senator Mario Salucci lauded the condemnation as a "strong step in the right direction" and vowed to support any measure by the government to ensure the upholding of state sovereignty both at home and abroad.
