The Utopia of Oscad

#1

History:
Oscad has had a very complicated and active history, with peace throughout the country being virtually unknown even to this day. Lots of revolutions and takeovers have occurred, a lot of the time resulting in the loss of history books and records, which has led to much of its history being known through legends and guesses. A brief timeline will be shown below. Keep in mind that the Oscadan calendar starts in the year 3400 BC approximately, which is thought to be the first time in Oscad that records started being kept.
0- Tablet of Sanart thought to have been written, the oldest record found which details how many animals had been killed each day. It documents 100 days with the median amount of animals per day being 31 with 12 being the lowest and 68 being the highest.
25- Battle of Yerdar fought, the reason of the conflict believed to have been hunting area.
105- Tablet of Garada believed to have been written, detailing the output of a farm. It's significance comes from the fact that it is the first evidence of farming in ancient history.
150- A town near Qal is thought to have been built at this time, it is the first significant settlement documented
500- Battle of Haredri fought, over territory. Factions arise in Oscad.
740- Qal, or its precursor, is built.
800-1000- A series of battles results in two factions, north (the Onites) and south (the Yesnites) taking control.
1050- The Onites push into Yesnite territory and drive them from the land. Oscad is unified under one ruler, which is thought to be Remere Tunalt (Remere is the ancient title for king).
1070- Revolts happen, with a small part of the northwest island being controlled by anarchists.
1075- Anarchists crushed but their legacy remains.
1700- Several revolutions in the northwest island separate it from the nation. They fly the flag of the anarchists of 1070.
1700-1950- Several attempts from the kingdom, now named Karagla to reclaim the island fail and they are left alone.
2500- The northwest island, named Orsrad by the locals, trade with the mainland and northeast island. Contact is limited however.
2600- Orscrad is realized to be an Anarcho-Communist nation, with them rejecting the adoption of currency that had spread over the rest of the country at that time.
3000- Ships from Orscrad attack parts of the mainland and they capture several coastal towns.
3005- Orscrad advances further into the mainland, the oppressed and starving people putting up next to no resistance.
3007- The full army of Karagla marches to the captured territory to crush the invaders, but revolts in towns all over the nation, inspired by the freedom and equality of Orscrad, slow their progress.
3008- The armies meet, but bad conditions and revolts that weakened Karagla meant that they stood no chance against the well-fed Orscradans.
3025- Orscrad holds most of the country except for a small area in the southeast.
3027- Orscrad captures the enemy territory, wiping out the Karaglans for good.
3000-3500- The name Orscrad changes to Oscad due to mixing of Karaglan and Orscradan languages, which are slightly different.
3000-3250- Complications occur with the Karaglans as they make the change to an Anarcho-Communist point of view, rebellions occur, but none accomplish anything as they are just denied food from the rest of the population.
3554- Garde Dacam a descendant of Farilth Dacam, a leader of the invasion of Karagla, gains support and begins to act like a leader figure.
3567- Garde Dacam begins, with support of some of the population, to regulate the distribution of goods throughout Oscad.
3570- Battle of Dacam occurs, with Garde Dacam and his supporters being killed.
4000- Oscad reaches the pinnacle of an Anarcho-Communist society, with everyone taking a selfless approach to life and the nation itself becoming rich.
Between 4250-4300- Trade begins with nations such as Crypton and Scapulistan
4300-5000 Nothing worth documenting happens.
5010- Steam, gunpowder and farming machinery becomes more common.
5050- Early factories arise, although these are put under the ownership of the people.
5065- Manufactured goods are very common and the country develops an impressive railway system.
5100- A census, thought to be one of the first, reveals that 65% of the population were happy with their earnings and lifestyle, while 305 wished for a bit more and 5% were unhappy. This led to efforts from the people conducting the census, who were a government based on direct democracy, to increase relations and trade with other countries, travelling as far as the Sol Federation.
5150- Another census was conducted on the same topic, due to the countries growth over the 50 years, revealing that now 80% of the population was happy, 10% wished for a bit more, 3% were unhappy and 7% were happy but would like trade and international relations to be increase even more to make sure everyone was happy. This led to a public vote in which 77% voted for more public relation and 23% voted for less.
5250- Trade dies down a bit as the population gets quite xenophobic towards other capitalist nations and votes to cut down trade with them, not wanting capitalism to arise in their nation.
5300- Oscad becomes largely industrialized, with highly efficient farms, factories and economic systems, relations with Selene, Sartoria and almost every other nation are established.
5416- Present day.

I hope that this information is enough to give an insight on Oscad and it's view on things, particularly other countries. There is more to come but for now while I think over it I hope you enjoyed this brief history. If you would like a more detailed history on particular events please comment in the other thread that I will make after I post this one.

Order:
Due to Oscad being anarchic, you may think that it is a country of chaos everywhere and that there is a very serious crime problem, but this is not the case. Since everyone already has access to everything that they need, including luxuries, there is next to no stealing and the like. Murder is also uncommon, as the selfless attitude that everyone takes towards life means that there is not much reason for conflict. There are also some people that has taken the responsibility of attending to people with special needs, or people that need counselling, so there is always someone you can see if you are depressed/suicidal.
The little crime that there is is usually solved by the unofficial police organisation known as 'the protectors'. These protectors do not place anyone in jail, or even force them to do anything as that would be obstructing their freedom. Instead they try to solve any problems between people and recommend counselling if necessary. If an individual's life is in danger from someone else however, they will make sure that the person is protected at all costs.
Oscad, surprisingly, actually has a functioning government. It is comprised of the 'ambassadors' of the workers unions around the country and has next to no authority on its own. Every decision is made by a majority vote among the entire population and voting is optional. Almost everyone in Oscad has an app on their phone called 'ivote' which alerts them to when a law or decision is being passed so that they can vote on it. It also gives the option to vote through the app, although a recent survey revealed that 81% of ivote users preferred to vote in person due to fears of corruption/controlling the vote. Before the app surveys used to be conducted every time there was a vote, and although this would've been very inefficient in other countries, Oscad had perfected conducting surveys and census's for the entire population.
Other than that the country is pretty much an anarchy, except that it runs like a giant charity. This is due to its 'take what you need' attitude towards resources, with factories being a walk in, create a product sort of thing and large kitchens providing food that was given from the farms, which are given compensation for their work. The whole country is very selfless and some people have described it like a hive-mind, although this is far from the truth. Most farmers however, give up some of their produce willingly, as they understand that everyone relies on them and everyone plays there own part in society, that there is and equal workload, so they happily give the products of their work to society, just as everyone else does.

Government:

The Oscadan government is called the 'Trinity' whose top members carry out decisions voted on by the public. The Trinity is divided into three wings, hence the name. The Industrial Wing, which hosts debates on everything to do with production (farms, factories, jobs etc), The International Wing, which hosts debate on foreign affairs (trade, diplomatic relations) and last but possibly the most important, The Social Wing, which hosts debates on everything to do with the people (currency, laws, rights, the anarchist communism theory, hours to work, value of certain jobs (i.e how long you have to work certain jobs so that the workload is equal e.g  a cleaner would work longer than a builder)). Each Wing has up to 200 managers, who help carry out the voted on policies. These managers are usually representatives from a workers union, whom the workers elect or decide on. The reason there is so many is that there is usually a union for every job in every city, instead of a national union of all the builders in the nation or something along those lines. The only time the managers are not from a workers union is either, if they are the only person in their job or if they are a citizen that really wants to have a say, although if a new workers union pops up these people are usually ejected. How a law is passed or a decision made is by some presenters making their case in one of the meeting halls of the wing that encompasses their problem. These presentations are then released to the public via ivote and the three T.V channels that play the debates of each wing live. The voting has to be open for greater than 5 days to allow all people to participate. If you vote after this period however, it is likely that your vote would not be included in the decision making process.

Some call out Oscad for this system, saying that since they have a government they are not truly anarchic-communists, which most Oscadans retort by saying that since the government is but a middle man to process decisions made by the public and since decisions cannot break the right of freedom, that they should not be considered a government but rather like a wise man whom you would do well to listen to and who coordinates the workers unions. Individuals are free to go against decisions but they will most likely not receive much support. And there is always the group 'the protectors' that act as a police force anyway.
