The Community of Varenil is a democratic nation comprised of roughly 39 million citizens inhabiting Varenil’s four distinct districts: Avanor, Cenalt, Orisur, and Vestsur. 


Long ago, these four districts began as separate unclaimed territories, inhabited by natives. As they grew in size and began to interact more among  each other, the separate populations realized that they had more in common than different and decided to band together and govern themselves for strength in numbers- so they declared themselves as a nation. 


Each of the four districts votes on representatives that make up The Prime Council of Varenil, which is where the majority of the government’s power is located. There are also national elections held for Varenil’s Chief, who is technically the ruler of the nation, but in reality plays a very passive role- only voting in the council if a tiebreaker is needed and only able to veto if the winning vote is ¾ or less of the council. 


Varenil’s legislation upholds the personal freedoms of all Varenian citizens including: legal gun ownership, equal marriage, legal recreational substances, and legal abortion. The intentions being to restrict the citizens’ personal choices as little as possible. The council contains responsibilities over education, military, and international relations. Since the economy is free market, there was an attempt to privatize  the entirety education as an industry, but there was less success than when it was public, so it was turned back over to the government. Private schools and universities are allowed, but after the previous failures the citizens have yet to create any. The public school system  offers optional preparatory school years for children under the age of 6, and then is compulsory for children ages 6-16 when they are allowed to dropout in grade 10. If students continue to graduation, they normally graduate between the ages of 17-19 depending on their course schedules in grades 10-12. 


Avanor, the least populated at only 3 million citizens, is known for their luxury goods by containing many large wineries, cannabis farms, and jewelry manufacturers.  Cenalt, the most population at 10 million citizens, is known for their petroleum and textile industries while containing both the capital city Covaci and Varenil’s largest city Qeznic where the very prominent industry of maglev trains is headquartered. Orisur, populated by 7 million citizens, is known for their timber, agriculture, livestock, and petroleum industries. Vestur, populated by 9 million stations, contains large amounts of the coast therefor being known primarily for their seafood industry. 


Varenil is located in the southern hemisphere. Overall the climate is temperate, being warmer in the north in the south and in the mountains that run through the middle of Varenil.]]>

This has a number of purposes, but the main ones are to help you develop your nation and to help others in knowing what kind of nation they are interacting with. If you have some questions on what would be the best way to answer a particular question in the Survey (for instance your population), here would be the place to ask. In the meantime, here are some basics tips:
  • Your answers have to be realistic. There is always some leeway, but keep it within reasonable limits.
  • Big isn't always better. If you make all your national statistics excessively large, that will hardly be realistic.
  • By the same token, your nation can't be entirely self-sufficient: it can't produce everything, have zero poverty and the like. There have to be drawbacks.
  • If your nation is on the map, I have your surface area. Make sure to ask here.

Welcome to the Global Information Survey!

Founded in 1953, the Giorgios Passolides Centre for Statistical Research is the foremost statistical institute in Selene, tasked with gathering data from around the world to assist class and research efforts for the faculty and students of the University of Byzantium.

Since 1987, the Passolides Centre conducts the Global Information Survey, a collection of diverse data from countries around the world to be used by the University of Byzantium and the Government of Selene, as agreed upon by Chancellor Tsaldaris and Prince Marcus VII in their Memorandum of Understanding that same year.

Originally the Survey was filled by doctoral students at the Passolides Centre. Currently a copy of the Survey is sent to the foreign ministry of each country, and doctoral students complete what information remains missing after the limit to send responses has passed.

Since its first inception, the Survey has been a reliable source of information for students and governments alike, and it is our hope that the March 2017 iteration will carry on with that proud tradition.

Is a philosophical and economic ideology that is structured using the basic ideas of communism to create a new system where the elected government controls all means of production for the people instead of the people collectively owning production. This ideology changes communism but keeps it at it's core value and gives it small changes that it's creator considered to be missing from the main idea of communism.

In Yukhtritsism the Government controls all production and resources in order to distribute them equally amongst the people just as the basic foundation of communism. With the government in charge of production they are also tasked with providing labor to it's citizens in order to keep the production going and resources flowing. So the government must provide labor based on skill to its citizens, and reward its working citizens an equal share of the distributed resources by resolving their basic needs such as food, water and housing. To bring a competitive spirit to make citizen's better themselves the government may include luxuries such as promotions giving more responsibility to the worker and better housing. Every citizen is guaranteed some kind of housing, food and water however are also guaranteed to all citizens while workers can better themselves and gain promotions and better housing they cannot be entitled to more food or water than any other citizen thus making all citizens equal. 

Citizens who choose not to work should be forced by the government to work so they may earn their distribution (basic needs) from the government just like their other citizens. If they still refuse to work even by force these citizen must then give up their equality and removed. For citizens who have been deemed unable to work by the government they will be striped of any extra luxuries and live with just basic distribution. 

Wages are earned but are limited to the citizen as a majority of their wealth is used on their distribution these wages can be spent on simple luxuries that are more personal to the citizen. These luxuries could be tobacco alcohol or the arts the government cannot predicted the every need of a citizen but can allow them wages to satisfy those personal needs. Wages are also distributed equally and are not considered a luxury no citizen will be given more wages than the other.

Education is important and will be owned by the government in order to keep every citizen equal given equal chances to succeed the government will be tasked to figure out if the necessary skills are met by the citizen to further their education. A college student will be treated similar to a worker as they will be given their basic needs but not payed wages nor will they receive luxuries but with education they will be given skill that could lead them to a promotion early on giving them luxuries.


History
Dometri Yukhtrits was an economics professor who lived in Fornoire. He spent most of his life teaching at Kumari University a school that was opened up to allow education to be affordable for the lower class in Fornoire. In 1976 Dometri Yukhtrits was reviewing communism in his class and one of his students that felt it was incomplete, inefficient, and unstable and made a mockery of it. The student claimed that competition is necessary for people to better themselves capitalism offers that but communism everyone is equal even if your lazy. Yukhtrits was an advocate for communism and very open about it which was taboo for anyone at the time so he created his own version to help convince the student and students that communism could be efficient. It is said that Wolfric the ex-general secretary of the R.C.S.K. was the student that made a mockery in his class but this is just speculation as he never used the system during his time in office. 

With this new system he submitted it to the economics department of the Fornoire College Board who read it over and officially adopted it as branch of communism to be taught in schools. This brought success to Yukhtrits career which eventually lead him to become apart of the college board and also became the general secretary of the labor party which was the major communist party in Fornoire.

Unfortunately for the time being foriegners visiting Kumari are still banned from driving on the roadway unless the hold a Kumari drivers license because the roadways are just too different from other nations. Also their is still heavy restrictions on which cars will be allowed from other nations, and must fit within certain height, width, and length measurements to be allowed entrance. The Government as mentioned is now manufacturing 2 types of private vehicles.

A perfect vehicle for long trips across the glorious nation it features a 4 cylinder engine in the front and can average 27 MPG and is a 3-spd automatic. A spacious storage compartment in the back as well, this is the bigger of the two vehicles and will be made in bigger quantities than it's counter part. It is bordered on the west by Parsania, on the north by Seloana and Selene, on the east by the Selenid Gulf and the Theophilos Ocean and on the south by Istrad. It is one of the most populous countries in the world, with an estimated 118 million inhabitants, but its large surface area of over 4 million km^2 makes it also a considerably sparsely populated country.

Sartoria is a parliamentary constitutional elective monarchy. Its head of state is Patrizio, who was crowned in 1987 and has been ruling as Prince since. Its head of government is Marco Valerio, named First Councillor by Prince Patrizio on 16 March 2016 after he won the leadership election in the Senate. Valerio is an independent, but largely sympathises with the Social Progress Party and was elected in part due to their enthusiastic backing, both during the Senate campaign and the subsequent leadership election. His policies since his naming have focused on expanding civil liberties, improving access to education in isolated areas and balancing economic growth in the western, southern and seaside provinces with growing environmental concerns.

Since at least the 14th century, the area that would become Sartoria was comprised of numerous principalities and kingdoms that coexisted and even traded with one another, though the relationship between each would depend on their particular geographical area. In the Virellian Island, relations between the existing monarchies were hostile until an attempted colonisation from the mainland caused them to merge and form larger and stronger kingdoms. In the north, the smaller republics jointly exploited their strategic location and trade skills to make themselves too important to invade. In the east, the lack of existential threats allowed the rise of larger kingdoms, which in turn led to the consolidation of important agricultural and industrial sectors. In the west, economic development was slower, partly due to the availability of resources and partly due to the complicated relations between the existing monarchies. In the south, the mountainous terrain gave rise to large isolated kingdoms that valued self-reliance above all else, which is why they were the last states to join Sartoria, holding out until the early 20th century.

While formally unitary, Sartoria is highly devolved and grants high degrees of autonomy to many of its 62 provinces, particularly those in the west and south. Relations between the provinces are for the most part collaborative, though there is lingering resentment in some western provinces for the overwhelming western influence, particularly Messelian and Chieran, since unification.

Sartoria has been a parliamentary democracy since the 1864 Foundation Treaty. Since then it has enjoyed high levels of economic development and moderate inequality, partly due to the important economic assistance given by the Malaran League following the Continental War. Its large area and diverse regions make it an important centre for history, culture and the arts. While the government budget focuses in military somethings need to be cut. Such as welfare. Welfare is entirely non funded, with the government not paying any penny to it saying that citizens need to achieve their own dreams and start making money for the state. They also said that this would lead to socialism which is often mistaken for communism, the biggest fear of the government. Now on to the government. The government is basically an semi authoritarian democracy, where people elect some officials that have a lot power. The leader that is chosen is elected by a group of corporation CEOs. The current leader is Daniel Turnt however he has considered getting a name change due what he says, "A cancerous vine on the internet that disgraced the name of Daniel."
