USA has confirmed that the latest weather reports are ideal for the launch of Tyche IV, the Artemian Union’s manned lunar mission. A recent report from the Department of Artemian Science expects clear skies and favourable weather for the morning of January 25.

In today’s media update, Spokesman Giovanni Gentiloni said that USA has been keeping in close touch with the Parthenopian Space Agency and the Artemian Aerospace Administration, and that all three agencies believe that the moment is right to proceed with Tyche IV, despite earlier rumours that the mission could be delayed, either due to weather conditions or the need for further training and preparations.

Francesco Benedetto, Mission Commander and Commodore in the Aerospace Service, also delivered a brief statement at the end of the update, saying that his crew was in “good spirits and ready to help restore humanity’s place in the great cosmos”. Commodore Benedetto also thanked all those who had helped with the Tyche Project, including the building of Home Station One and the Periphas, which he lauded as “marvels of space architecture”.

Tyche IV is expected to launch from Launch Complex A, at the Parthenopian Space Centre, on January 25 at 09:55 SST.

[OOC] USA is the Sartorian Office for Aerospatial Development. Its name in Sartorian is Ufficio per lo Sviluppo Aerospaziale, hence USA.

Tyche IV Crew Docks with Home Station One

Mission Control (SMC) has received confirmation from Commander Benedetto that the Tyche IV crew has successfully boarded Home Station One. Confirmation of docking was given at 16:15 SST, when Commander Benedetto communicated with SMC:

FB: Suderia, please be advised, we have docked with Home Station One. I repeat, we have docked with Home Station One. We expect confirmation from HS1 Docking Control that the hatches are safe to open.
SMC: That’s great news, Tyche IV. We remain on standby for boarding confirmation.

Tyche IV subsequently received permission to open the hatches and were greeted by Commander Teresa La Marca. Commander La Marca reported that the crew was in good health, and that they were given a tour of the station. They will remain on HS1 for the remainder of the day, before boarding the Periphas at midnight, in anticipation of their translunar injection at 01:20 SST.

What is Home Station One?

Home Station One is the Artemian Union’s orbital station and laboratory, built between 2011 and 2019 by the Artemian Space Administration. Also called HS1, the station is the successor of Station Artemia, which served AU crews between 1991 and 2018, but was administered solely by the Sartorian Office for Aerospatial Development.

HS1 orbits Artemia at an average altitude of 500 kilometres, and has a modular structure, accommodating living quarters, laboratories, command and service sections and recreational modules. It is expected to be serviced most regularly by the Prodigio, Legia, Cavallo and Astrapi spacecrafts, the latter two only for supply missions.

[OOC] Prodigio and Legia are Sartorian and Parthenian human-rated spacecrafts. Cavallo and Astrapi are Sartorian and Selenid supply spacecrafts.
