Today, October 5th 2018, the Empire of Setsushima celebrates twenty years in the Artemian Union. Chancellor Yamamoto spoke to the nation, saying that the Empire had come a long way in the past 150 years and stood as a beacon of democracy and human rights in a world filled with tyrants.
The Senate has passed a resolution condemning Meridia’s human rights practices and calling on the Privy Council to impose sanctions on Canarto state government officials.

Demonstrators from the region of Canarto are holding a gigantic rally in Florenzei. Initial turnout is 100,000, with more people expected to arrive in the coming days.
Yesterday, the government of Setsushima advised all citizens within the country of Meridia to leave that nation as soon as possible, as the risk of violence is too great. It clarifies, however, that this is not mandatory and only a warning. The consular staff, however, has been reduced to a skeleteon bare-bones group of personnel, as all unessential workers have been ordered to depart.
The Parthenopian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has stated that all civilians and consular staff have been accounted for following their withdrawal from Meridia. It also urged calm and restraint at the rally.
The government of Sizhou has issued a complete travel ban, escalated from already existing restrictions, to and from Meridia. Only citizens returning to their respective countries will be allowed until it is determined to be safe by the Interim Assembly.
Riot Police are blocking the entrance of key executive and legislative buildings, as the rally swarms to them. The protests are still peaceful, but the government has stated that it will not allow the rally to step a single foot in any of the interior of these buildings.
200 troops and 800 riot police have blocked the Embassy District of Florenzei, as more radical elements of the rally tried to attack the Sartorian Embassy, but failed to get to the building. Troops have been ordered to fire in the air if radicals enter the property of any embassy.
The Foreign Office has recalled all non-essential diplomatic and consular personnel to Sartoria, following civil unrest in Meridia.

The rally has ended peacefully, mostly. Most, if not all protesters have returned to Canarto.
