In accordance with the Alghana Al’ard Accord of 2016, the Alssahra - Sartoria Coordination Committee monitors the state of democracy and the rule of law in various countries. Thus it has taken notice of the deteriorating relationship between the Fornirian Government and its Military and the subsequent partial mobilisations by supporters of both sides.

It is further noted that in the past few hours Government and Military forces have commenced fighting in the capital city of Catherine, as a result of the offensive operations carried out by the latter on civilian and government buildings. This wantonly endangers the civilian population and deprives them of their right to living in peace under a government based on the principles of democracy and equal protection under the law.

In view of the above, the Coordination Committee, acting in representation of the signatory governments, condemns in the strongest possible terms the aggressive actions by the Fornirian Military and expresses its strong desire for the cessation of hostilities and submission of all armed personnel to the legitimate authority of the Fornirian Government.

In the event that the Military continues its aggressive actions, the Alssahran and Sartorian Governments are prepared to coordinate bilaterally and with the Fornirian Government an appropriate response, including one of a military nature, with the aim of restoring legitimate democratic governance to Fornoire at the earliest possible instance and guaranteeing the safety of the civilian population.

It is the duty of the Alssahra – Sartoria Coordination Committee to inform that the Alssahran Navy is conducting an offensive campaign on the military installations located along the coast of Catherine upon the request of the Fornirian Government.

In its Statement of January 9, the Coordination Committee indicated that actions of a military nature could be conducted if the ongoing military insurrection did not cease and if the Fornirian Government called for assistance. On January 16 a request for military assistance was filed by the Fornirian Government before the Alssahran Government, expressing a need for assistance in the campaign to retake Catherine.

Today at 14:00 the Alssahran Navy commenced its offensive actions against the installations of the self-declared National Stability Council and it intends to continue such actions until the aforementioned installations have been adequately neutralised. Should the Fornirian Government so request, Alssahra and Sartoria are prepared to commit further military forces.

This Committee expresses full confidence in the understanding of the international community of the delicate situation in Fornoire and hopes that all governments will respond reasonably and responsibly to this intervention, one that is not unilateral in nature but rather one requested by the legitimate governing institutions of Fornoire.
