SRA World Autosport Championship Results and News

#1

OOC: Anyone is free to make in-character posts here*. I will mostly be posting results and announcing changes or new events. Direct OOC posts to Comments on The International I guess cause I don't wanna make another OOC comment thread.

*Obviously must be relevant.

From the official wiki: The World AutoSport Challenge (stylized as WASC) is a grand touring car racing series that began in 2018. The World AutoSport Challenge is an adaption of the Sizhouan AutoSport Championship (Sìzhōu Qìchē Yùndòng Jǐnbiāosài, 四州汽车运动锦标赛) referred to as the SQY Championship, renamed in 2018 after a January 2017 Sizhouan National People's Assembly vote to introduce the first international racing championship in it's class.

Additional info, full race Calendar, and excruciatingly detailed descriptions/images of each class can be found at the linked wiki. Also, my full methodology, skill and result sheets, etc can be found in my signature again with stupid amounts of detail and description if you really wish to see that.

Race 10 of the SRA World Autosport Championship, taking place at the high speed circuit hosted in Selene, concluded over the night.

Dominating in both qualifying and the race itself, Team number 13 of Sizhou driving a Parthenopian Hephaistion won the prototype class. In third and fourth position came Team 18 of Sartoria and Team 19 of Selene, scoring a high finish in their home track. Meanwhile Team 6 of Sizhou won their first race of the championship starting from a mid-pack 10th position. Team 11 of Seravano suffered a critical failure early in the race, retiring at only lap 5 of 97.

The Sizhouan Racing Association has begun debate on potential rules or roster changes for the following championship year, starting in September 2019, to improve competitiveness. Current suggestions on the table include attempting to invite more foreign drivers and manufacturers to compete in order to reduce the number of Sizhouan drivers total (keeping in mind the SRA is a distinctly Sizhouan organization, while attempting to attract international audiences), reducing the total number of drivers, or implementing a handicap system relative to team performance. Officials are leaning towards the final option, as it would prevent any one team regardless of nationality from completely dominating the field such as Team 16 and 12 of the current Prototype roster. This would be accomplished by attaching weights to the best performers' cars.

7th April, 2019

Race 11 of the SRA World Autosport Championship, taking place on the scenic streets of the city of Araxos and surrounding Parthenopian ruins of Kyanos Curcuit, took place this Saturday. As the championship approaches its last race, the Prototype class is not much more than a foregone conclusion with all competition below the leader, while competition in the GT class remains tight. Team 14 of Sizhou leads, but only by a mere 6 points above second, and less than 9 above the Wakokuan team of 3rd, who performed very well this weekend.

In the prototype class, Team 10 of Wakoku placed in Pole, falling down to 5th by the end of the race. Team 1 of Sizhou, although they scored their first victory of the championship, are still at half the points score of the current leader, who coincidentally performed poorly at Kyanos.

Tensions continue to run high in the GT class, however Team 8 of Wakoku had an incredible turn of luck of the course of the weekend, stealing the show entirely. Suffering a horrible 16th qualifying position, they fought through the pack amid a number of fortunate events and solid strategy that elevated them to the lead. Team 14 of Sizhou finished 2nd, taking the lead in championship points, however GT is not at all decided. Six teams are still technically within range of overall victory with one race to go.
