Family Secret

#1

„Yeah, I gotta see!“

„Alright, if you say so . . . “ Both men dressed for the hot winter nights walked through the well-lit streets of Lusesurbe where every glance revealed a group of drunken youngsters and a pub that played the newest hit.

“But don’t make a huge fudge, alright?” The further they walked down the street the darker the lights went until they were either turned off completely or broken with glass shards lying around them.

The shorter of the two brothers went stiff as he questioned if it was a good idea. He didn’t have a long time to think until they found themselves in a room. The larger of the two turned around only to see the same wooden wall and flooring with two windows looking out into indefinable dark shapes.

While the young brother steadily seemed less excited the older sibling quickly strolled to the windows and slid them open only to be grabbed and pulled out.

“B-brother?”

No answer.

The little brother fidgeted in his place unsure of what to do until he heard a knock behind him. He slowly turned around and saw a door that wasn’t there before.

He walked over to it and opened it slowly until a hand shot out from behind the door and grabbed his wrist, quickly yanking him outside.

There stood his brother a tad bit annoyed at his frightened brother.

Wordlessly he let go of his brother’s wrist and strolled down the endless darkness with his brother falling behind.

The shapes that inhabited the window before were now all around. It almost felt to the both of them like they were being watched but one of them knew better.

“Pure aesthetics.” The older brother muttered.

The air around them began filling with music that came from all around them and the shapes soon became clearer and clearer as if one would slowly put on his glasses until they all found themselves in the middle of a dance club, sticking out unnaturally around those modernly dressed people.

They were already receiving weird glances until peculiar well-armed security surrounded them and walked them to a “Personnel Only”-Door.

As they were pushed through they landed onto a pile of woven flour bags which covered them in white powder.
The irritated, little brother wanted to stand up but was halted by his older brother.

“We’re here.”

The brother looked forward to see himself in front of an oversized desk in the middle of a storage hall. Behind the desk was an abnormally huge creature that seemed to be made off various sorts of weeds and larger plants and other parts made out of pure flesh-like earth that didn’t seem to fall apart when faced with huge tremors from the center of the creature.

Wordlessly it put a finger on its desk and pushed forward a pile of sacks that fell down fairly quickly and made a metallic sound that echoed through the entire hall when they hit the floor.

The older brother was quick to stand up and slid down the pile they were on followed by his brother which stared in awe at the giant. From close up he could see a tie the size of numerous carpets, which they probably were before, hanging from the upper part of the creatures torso. It didn’t have a neck and he couldn’t make out to what the tie was attached to. He couldn’t stare for much longer as he suddenly found himself in free fall with the upper world quickly disappearing as it dimmed into a dot and then to nothing.

He didn’t know when he started to scream but he had found himself in the drains infront of his house with his brother starring down at him disapprovingly when he stopped.

“Go grab one. I can’t carry them both.”

The little brother, a bit dumbfounded, quickly stood up and went to pick up two of the bags.

Their housing was on the top floor so it was a long way up the stairs.

“Lamíchov?”

“Yes, brother?”

“Are you really sure you can’t use magic?”

The older brother mused; “Humans can’t use magic, Kotlyet. You know that. Those are simply cracks in reality that I just know where to find when they appear.”

“But how do you find them?”

The bigger brother unloaded the bag onto the ground, with the mouth of the sack opening revealing sickeningly green powder.
The brother smiled tiredly while reaching for the keys of their home.

“That’s family secret, brother.”
