A Failed Assassination

#1

A failed assassination by two men was made on Edward Yutan's life today. Yutan was with 10 guards in his office, when suddenly a bomb went off, making a huge hole in the floor. Luckily, Yutan was spared, being just the right distance to avoid major injuries or death, with minor injuries. The guards were not so lucky however, as 9 were left seriously injured, and 1 left dead. Yutan, absolutely furious, ordered a scouting of the entire capital, with no one allowed out or in. Within 5 hours of the search, they found the men responsible. The two were Rein Luckberg, a figure in the democracy movement, and John Tureen, a previous member of the now exiled communist party. Questions arose as to why two men of completely different ideologies would work together. After brutal torture methods, it was discovered that the democracy supporters and the Communist Party made an alliance to destroy the Yutan regime. After figuring this out, Yutan was filled with rage. A half hour later, he calmed down, and figured that keeping them alive was a threat to the state. They are ordered to be publicly executed tomorrow, to show the two factions true despair and punishment for defying Yutan.

Fornoire is officially neutral, but it is rumored that the King secretly said "I wish that could've actually happened"

Councillor El-Ghazzawy was sitting at her desk, reading a report of a human trafficking ring in Bawwaba Medina being broken up. She was very pleased with the reconstruction of the Nahr valley, and made a note to visit the valley next week to congratulate the workers.

Councillor Ali burst through the door of the office with a red folder stapled shut. Rarely used in that fashion, only for paramount confidential information, it caught the First Councillor's attention and immediately brought her to stand up and walk around the desk.

"Amal, an attempt on Yutan was made today. We have more information than was publicly released. I haven't seen it, and neither has Al-Jourani," he said with a fast pace and worried tone. "Al-Jazari will be briefed after you see it."

El-Ghazzawy took the folder and grabbed a knife from a pen holder on her desk. Tearing the folder open, she began to read over the information included, and her hopeful glow from the Nahr report turned to a cheerless dread that emanated the declaration of war from months past by Sach'aqa.

Upon reading the names of the perpetrators, she began to chuckle, and the chuckle turned to full laughter after a minute. Ali looked worriedly at her and inquired, "Is everything okay, Amal?"

She came down from the laughter and, still smiling, turned to Ali. "Sometimes, things work out the way you wanted." She continued to read through the folder with a smile, and dismissed Ali when she went to see Al-Jazari.

After 4 days of bad weather, the public execution has finally been put into effect.
Today, in the capital plaza, the military brought out the two men, blindfolded and tied them to a cross. The leader, Edward Yutan looked on at the men, and directly ordered the soldiers shoot them. After a brutal shooting of the men, the bodies were left there for 5 hours until cleanup crew picked up the dead bodies and threw them into the incinerator.
The execution was broadcast all over the Sol Federation to spark fear and weakness in the democracy supporters and communists.
"Let this event be a reminder to not mess with the Duce," said Yutan.
